choked again in the playoffs against Boston
Again? Uh weird I could have sworn there was a pretty decent series with a 45 win team in 2008.

If Ferry had been able to land Amare Stoudemire, which was a big rumor and supposedly a done deal at the All-Star break, I'm guessing that Ferry still has a job, and LeBron probably stays in Cleveland.
He failed to close that deal, settled on Antawn Jamison, a good player who plays typically on average-to-decent teams, and his team regressed in the playoffs.
Now, Cleveland is stuck with that contract, no Shaq, probably no LeBron, and Ferry quits when the heat is on him. If he can't handle Dan Gilbert, imagine what will happen with Paul Allen and the Vulcans if things go a bit sideways.
They'll be lucky to win 30 games next year. Portland should win over 50. Who left their team in better shape?
Ferry resigned, he wasn't fired.
They will be lucky to win 30 games, but if Roy left here, how many would we win?

That's like saying KP wasn't fired, he was "relieved of his duties"Ferry resigned, he wasn't fired.

He "resigned" with one month left on his deal. Um...yeah...it was all his idea.
When he left his position as assistant general manager of San Antonio in 2005, he signed with Cleveland with the agreement that he would have full, and final say on all basketball related decisions. However, at the end of his tenure, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert started weighing in, and making, more decisions, such as firing coach Mike Brown and pushing for the hire of Tom Izzo as his replacement.
Ferry resigned two weeks after Brown was fired.
Also, it is believed Bert Kolde, Allen’s longtime advisor, is wanting more input and control with the Blazers organization.

I'm not a huge Ferry fan, but I think he'd be a reasonable hire.
I wonder why KP didn't quit, if Paul Allen is so evil, when GMs like Kerr and Ferry seem so willing to do so when they are tread upon by their owners?

Because he'd be giving up ~$800k of contract money for next year, while Ferry and Kerr were playing out the string in their contract?
Seems like an obvious decision to me. Would you leave $800k on the table?
Methinks you doth protest too much.
You're totally right.
I'm drinking at the moment so thinking less clearly than normal. Which (in your opinion, especially) might really be saying something.

Humble Ed is fun! I have a movie to watch with the Mrs., so I won't get to enjoy him.
It is odd that 3 out of the 16 playoff GMs have been let go, though, for whatever reasons.

Also weird that a lot of people wouldn't want 2 of those guys as Portland's GM.
And they are also looking for players skilled in offense and defense
I want maid who cleans
...Maybe they should hire Kevin Pritchard? Heard the guy was pretty good in trades and FA
funny, i hear pritchard is available
For summer league, they want some trainers who are apt at training
Other teams fans are starting to laugh again
To Miller's statement that the Blazers are looking for a GM skilled in trades and FA:
Turning into a joke organization to the rest of the NBA again. Fun.
I'm a little surprised that Kerr isn't generating more interest in Portland. He played here for a bit, he's well-spoken, and he got over a rough start to build a pretty good team with the Suns.
I'd be more interested in him than Ferry, personally.

Heh, isn't Danny Ferry the guy that Bonzi spat upon?
Ferry led the Cavs to the Finals in 2007, and multiple 60+ win seasons. But he did so despite having the MVP LeBron James on roster and having the authority to spend what he needed to in order to win a championship. Ferry is widely considered shrewd, but unable to land the marquee deal, repeatedly failing to capitalize on opportunities given with long-term expiring contracts.
For example, he opted for Wally Sczerbiak as a marquee shooter for LeBron, Ben Wallace as a defensive stopper (despite his offensive liabilities) and Shaquille O'Neal as the Big Kahuna he caught. Then he made the big trade that netted Antawn Jamison instead of Amar'e Stoudemire. It was the right move at the time. It also probably resulted in his firing, as Jamison was unable to capitalize on what he was brought in to do against the Boston Celtics.
Ferry did deliver multiple 60+ win seasons, but has proven to be the opposite of Kevin Pritchard, opting for the safe move instead of swinging for the fences. Is that really what the Blazers need, with an injury prone roster and Brandon Roy as their only real star? We'll find out if he lands the Blazers gig.
