Some of my random thoughts about the game.
1. Man Joel's injury looked real bad. Even if its not a season ender (highly unlikely) at best I think he will be joining the other guys in street clothes at a MINIMUM for 4-6 weeks. Again, though, it seems like his season is over.
2. With the way things are going this year and now our only healthy bigs being Aldridge and a really old Howard, expect us to play a lot of small ball and constantly be in foul trouble.
3. Playoff hopes look pretty bleak now that we don't have a consistent rebounder and enforcer in the paint. We were one of the best interior defensive teams and easlily one of the best rebounding teams with Oden and Joel. Without those 2 we lose about 20 boards a game and at least a few blocks.
4. I am proud of how the team played after Joel went down. Sure, Dallas shot bad but we could've easily mailed it in feeling sorry for ourselves. This team is really showing some heart through this recent adversity.
5. We can really find what this team is made of now and get some people who never play time. This will make doing a consolidation trade or finding out who fits our long term plans.
6. Better to get bit by the injury bug hopefully all at once, and we dont have to deal with this crap going forward. Seriously, our injuries are worse then Golden States as they really had any bigs outside of Biedrins and Turiaf. We've lost our starting and back up center, starting SF, our back up SF and PF (Outlaw), and our best outside threat and supersub in Fernandez. This year has been crazy.
7. We can all enjoy watching the games now not expecting to win since we will pretty much be an underdog in most of the games we play.
8. We shouldn't mortgage our future making a stupid trade just to try and get in the playoffs. If we make the playoffs this year, I think we are an even easier out this year vs last year. I'm not opposed to trade and I actually want one to happen, I just dont want to trade solid role players for a big who wont even be on the team next year when Oden and Joel are back.
