im sure Powell didn’t sign to be a backup
The dude just got 90 million guaranteed. As long as he is getting his minutes I doubt he really cares.

Do you sign him for 5 years when the plan is so clearly to reset after the season?
Norm is solid and balances out a good starting 5. CJ I think is more suited to being a super 6th man. If we can get another starting forward I think CJ off the bench would be an amazing improvement.i wonder if we promised him a starting job.
would be interesting if we turn him into a super 6th man like jordan clarkson or the like. think he'd flourish in a role without CJ next to him.
I probably wouldn't have screenshotted the N word.
Hilarious
lol...sometimes Quick is fucking ridiculous. That "one of the best starting lineups in the NBA" got boat-raced by an injured Denver team just 2 months ago
Neil did very well... it's not often you get to say that. Maybe Dame's press conference was the wake up call he needed and he'll turn himself into one of the best execs in the league.
I want 1, I can live with 3, I wouldn’t do 2. But if KAT were ever an option, this is where the Nassirs and Anfernees and 1st rounders are available. Something like:Next -
trade CJ with Nurkic to Timberwolves for KAT
Dame
Powell
Naz
RoCo
Towns
trade CJ for Harris
Dame
Powell
RoCo
Harris
Nurkic
trade CJ for Siakam
Dame
Powell
Siakam
RoCo
Nurkic
Finally have another core piece...locked up for 5....when the casual NBA fan can name your starting 5 you've got a core identity...we haven't really had that since the Wes, Batum, Lamarcus, Dame and Rolo Blazers....can't wait to get back to a core that plays not only an entire season together but multiple seasons together...Go Blazers!
Wouldn’t really have to be a blowup. You could get Simmons and much more from Philly for Dame. CJ/Norm/RoCo/Simmons/Nurk is a good teamThis deal is fantastic because if something were to happen and Dame wanted out and we wanted to blow it up... this contract is very valuable. A team would receive a solid two way guard on a very affordable deal that they have him locked into for years. That would bring a good return back.
The only reason I say it this way is because Norm posted "let's run it back" ugh. That's the exact thing Dame said he wasn't cool with. So any way you slice it Olshey did a great job for the team with this deal.
If Philly won't take a reasonable deal for CJ because they're trying to blow up our team and take our best player ever from us... there are a ton of deals out there for Dame that will bring us back just as much value as Simmons. We wouldn't have to blow it up, you're right, but I hope we would.Wouldn’t really have to be a blowup. You could get Simmons and much more from Philly for Dame. CJ/Norm/RoCo/Simmons/Nurk is a good team

Yes, indeed. Add Thybulle as our sixth man, with Simons and Little (hopefully) contributing down the road with the draft picks we'd get from the 76ers... I would be excited for the future of that team. Younger, bigger, and much better defensively (even if we are missing out on the Dame awesomeness).Wouldn’t really have to be a blowup. Trent Jr off to a rough start avg a bit less than 14 PPG and shooting poorly at 37% and 35% from 3 in 31 MPG, Powell avg 14 PPG in 5 less minutes and shooting 45% and 41% from 3
Agreed, we may not. But by then Dame will be gone and having Trent would only help get us worse draft picks. With which we could get a much better player. The timing of this trade could wind up helping both teams win.I think Powell is currently the better player and I was/am happy with that trade, but age is a very important factor in determining the value of a player. Trent is the younger player and if he continues to improve even marginally, I'm not so sure if we'll end up on top of that trade.
Quality bump!Bump
Powell, you were Olshey's best trade. You for Trent and Hood was a steal. A shooter/scorer, you should have been perfect for Stotts' system.
LMAO, you went and dug this up just to make ANOTHER negative post.Even with last nights loss the Clippers have a winning record at 6-5 in a very competitive west. This is a year where Paul George walked for nothing, and having zero games played from Kawhi, very impressive.
Powell is scoring 26ppg, 53% FG, 51% 3pt. Yeah those numbers will come down, but he shot 44% 3pt last season in 76 games. He's legit making a case this season of being the best guard to play for the Blazers in the last decade. Other Blazers guards records right now;
2-8 Dame
2-7 Brogdon
3-8 CJ
3-8 Ant
Appears we decided to retain the worst of the five short guards, and pay him a larger contract than Powell. We got the lowest return of any of those 4 in a trade for Powell which was Eric Bledsoe contract, that is somehow still on our salary cap this season until 2025, and a 2nd round pick named Didi.
Powell has by far the most trade value of any of the four today.
Just another example the Blazers have given us of how to completely fail at building a team long term.
