Rumor on Oregonlive. Anyone know if this is true?

Nobody that actually knows anything around here would be permitted to tell (HCP) and those that would tell don't know anything.

Are you sure you're not the one that started the rumor, Sly?

ill check my pocket schedule from GI Joes

We play at San Antonio on Dec 19th then host Pheonix at home on Dec 23rd. The Blazers missed out on the Christmas day game, but we host the Clippers here the day after.

It's from Hollinger. I think he might be simply guessing:

That's the old schedule, right? If there are going to be back-to-back-to-backs then they will have to come up with a new schedule anyways, which I believe is what I heard anyhow.

Although I am an atheist, I observe the older, more traditional winter solstice holiday with family and friends. Non-essential services should allow their employees time off to do the same.

I never watch the Xmas day games as they stink of slavery.

A person familiar with the league's Christmas schedule told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the NBA will feature five games this year on Dec. 25 instead of the originally planned three. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the NBA does not plan to announce the Christmas lineup until later this week. The decision for the league to schedule five Christmas games was first reported by The New York Times.

It's the whipping, name changes and cotton picking they force the players to do between quarters that bothers me.

I would think the NBA would cram as many games in on Christmas as possible

Wonder if this means Blazer home game? Depending on the time, I think I will go if this happens.

I was hoping every team would play on xmas! Start this off with a bang!

I'm with ya Beer! I do believe if we play the Spurs on XMAS, it will NOT be a home game.

I would think the Christmas debut is designede to have as much national TV exposure as possible, you could have 5 games all shown throughout the day, 2 on network TV and the other 3 on TNT. Additional games wouldn't be able to fit in the national schedule so I don't know if there is a benefit. Saving most of the teams openers for the next day, Monday the 26th allows the NBA to have an extra day of opening games on national TV.

I thought they would have scheduled every team for a game opening day, xmas day just makes it that much more a 'gift' to the fans. I am shocked they are only going to have 3-5 games.

I guess my approach would have been to the benefit of the fans. I guess it makes more dollars and sense to maximize profits and roll out a series of TV games over several days. Silly me.

Xmas day might look like that....

New York @ Boston
Miami @ Dallas
Chicago@ Lakers
Grizz@ OKC
Spurs@ Portland or Portland @ Spurs

Nice of the NBA to give us something that will make us tired late in the evening. SA and Portland might have 2 fast break points between them.

Nate said we're going to run more this year.

Kill me now

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Nate has been a coach that prefers a slower pace for 10+ years

I love desserts. That's like me saying I'm going to eat less sweets in 2012. Yeah sure...
