how are people concluding McLemore can play defense well? He's been in the league 8 seasons and has been a minus defender, based upon DBPM, every year. He's also had a worse defensive rating than his team every year as well

I get that he's a minimum contract, but if the Blazers are going to add a 5th 6'3 guard (1/3 of a full roster, my gawd), I'd like to see one with PG skills

From watching him play the last couple of years and not giving a shit about defensive analytics because of how flawed they are.
 
Isn’t Mclemore’s agent (Rich Paul) the same guy representing Ben Simmons? Not saying there’s any link, but I do find it interesting. Could it be a you scratch my back (by signing Mclemore) and I’ll scratch yours (by encouraging Morey to move Simmons to Portland)? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
 
Just can't imagine all four 6'3"ish guards are all on the roster by the start of the season. And that doesn't include adding Mudiay when he is good in SL and Olshey thinks he's found another gem in the dumpster.

This almost screams that at least one of CJ or Simons is on the way out.

It makes no sense to sign McLemore to trade Anfernee. Ben is much older, and a worse player. The only way this makes sense is if it's because they're trading CJ and needed a backup backup.

It could but to me it screams..we got a backup center and backup pt guard because Simons ain't that at all after two years of trying...we can still go get a PF now with the MLE...probably Milsap but I wouldn't be surprised if CJ and Ant were moved for an impact player like Simmons

we're not making key roster decisions based on the skillset of the 10th man

Well we’ve been saying the same thing about getting a legit backup PG for the last 3 years and we still don’t have one.

He's a 6'3 guard then...but if you think either Ant or CJ are pt guards...then ok I guess..at any rate he's not going to hurt our bench when Dame Norm or CJ are resting
 
This move was made knowing full well that Simons and maybe CJ won’t be here next year. We aren’t going into next year with Powell as the starting 3.

I think Chauncey has some clout and won’t allow it.
 
Simons does literally only one thing well. McLemore doesn't do that one thing as well as Simons, but he's not bad at it.
 
I think people are forgetting that Simons was completely garbo for most of last season until he suddenly found his three point shot.
