Dafuq... came outta nowhere. Second year has to be player option. No way we can get him for that cheap for 2 years

I wonder if CJ's awful performance at PG in summer league pushed Olshey to pursue this.

I wouldn't doubt it; CJ needs time to bake, and Paul wants to win more now. Neil took that input, and turned it into Mo Williams because Neil is a goddamned wizard.

Mo Williams has been one of my guys for a few years now. He'll be a good 6th man.

McCollum isn't ready for those minutes. He's no Lillard. Guy shot 37% in SL.

Mo/Lillard should be awesome

Cool, Olshey can sign 4 more players this offseason.

No he can't, at least not to guaranteed contracts. He could sign 4 more players for camp fodder, but unless there is a trade moving a guaranteed contract, none of them can be on the season roster.

I think that was part of it. He already signed Watson for mentoring purposes and when it became apparent that you can't count on CJ for even 15 mins, it came down to giving Watson those 15 minutes or finding another player.

Just looking at last season; Mo was averaging 13 points, 43% FG, 38% threes, 6.2 assists and a steal per 30 minutes. Obviously the MPG will drop some; but I can see a solid guy off the bench. It will give Stotts more hope that the PG coming off the bench can run the offense or move Lillard to the 2 at times. Total versatility!

I think this pretty clearly signals that LMA isn't getting traded. Williams is a "win now" signing, and I think the bench that Neil has assembled could very well be the 4th best in the west. I guess we will have to see how things go. At the very least I don't think Aldridge would be traded until the deadline, and I think we would have to be grossly under performing for that to happen.

On a side note: Don't get to attached to CJ.

Yeah, because if there was ever going to be a sign that the Blazers already gave up on 22 year old CJ McCollum, it's the signing of 30 year old Mo Williams.

Mo/Lillard/Wessy as a 3-guard rotation is pretty damn sick.

Yeah, because if there was ever going to be a sign that the Blazers already gave up on 22 year old CJ McCollum, it's the signing of 33 year old Mo Williams.

To be fair, he's only 30 (turns 31 in December).

There has to be something else in the mix. Mo Williams didn't sign with us to play 15 minutes a game. Will McCollum get no time?

Wessy being moved? How would you feel about Mo as our starting SG?

Maybe a super-deal that pushes Wessy/LMA out and brings in a major piece?

Mo Williams is only 30, but I digress. He's a one-year rental with a player option for year 2, so I agree with you on how little this signing means for the future of McCollum.

I think it has more to do with allowing CJ to come in without too much pressure.

Let's be a little more understanding about CJ's performance in SL. Firstly, the dude had nobody to pass to. Nobody. Crabbe was horrible, Barton was out of control, Claver was injured, and our bigs aren't exactly offensive dynamos. His shooting took a dive because teams figured out that our team was horrible and they doubled the shit out of him.

The kid has game. He hadn't played in months and it was obvious that he was tired. I think he'll be a contributor next season and I think he has a bright future. He's not a point guard, but I think he could very easily be a starting shooting guard. He's smart and he works hard. I have no complaints.

Williams was brought in because CJ isn't a point guard and Watson shouldn't see the court. I'm sure we'll see him log some minutes with Dame so #0 can spend some time at the two.

What? No, the Blazers are giving up on CJ! BGD said so!

ANything that BGD says, I take like a 8 year old says. Usually off-base and totally unrealistic. Reminds me of those AT&T commercials with that guy and the kids at school.
