Blazers sign Phil Pressey

Why do people keep saying Pressy is a good shooter? Did you see his stats? They are terrible from 2,3 and the FT line.
He's obviously not some kind of elite shooter, but he's by far a way better option at the backup PG than Frazier is.

Uh what? You don't have to pay that amount if you cut them. Pressey has a fully guaranteed salary for the whole season. It's very unlikely he gets cut.

Maybe I didn't explain it clearly....

I am talking about his guarantee is the min you pay for a roster spot. If a deal comes in where we need to open a roster spot (mid season), cutting him wouldn't really effect our cap much.

We didn't need to sign Pressey or Alexander to hit the minimum 13 rostered players.

15 is the max; 13 is the min.

I counted the guaranteed players and it comes up 11. How do we have 13 min already without Alexander and Pressey?

Even with adding Crabbe and Fraizer, which we haven't signed yet, that would have been 11 without Alexander and Pressey

I liked Pressey and suggested him a few years ago but we need a contrast to Lillard off the bench.

Pressey and Frazier, whom I like, are too similar.

Dellevedova would be that contrast.

I would agree. I have no problem with a Lillard, Dellevedova, and Pressey PG rotation.
But if we don't get Dellevedova, I would keep Frazier around until we find someone who would round out the group.

I don't see the point in having both Frazier and Pressey. They would be third and fourth string PG's behind CJ and Dame with limited upside. Long term it's the least important position for us since Dame is a lock as a starter. So many other unknown holes on this roster. I'd rather keep Alexander, Montero, or another upside free agent.

Now if we get Delly its a bit different. He'd be the primary backup PG and CJ would play exclusively alongside them. Basically I think Delly can beat out Pat, Hendo, Crabbe for some minutes and move over CJ; but Frazier won't.

Sure let Frazier battle in training camp but he's going to have to really wow management to make the team.

If it is a numbers game and we have to choose between Alexander, Montero and Frazier....you are right. I would go with the two who have the biggest long term upside.

Although I still do not want CJ playing PG.

I like this kid Pressy's game. Reminds me of Aaron Brooks with Ricky Rubio's passing. Frazier's downside is turning the ball over but someone has to take Victor Claver's spot on the bench in a suit...better a 3rd pt guard than another big

Hey Dviss: Tell me about the stare down after. What would be your reaction to that reffing a high school game?

Presley does come from good basketball stock. His father was a helluva good defensive player and is now a coach. So I expect his kid has a high basketball IQ. But Paul Pressey was 6'5" and Phil Pressey is 5'11". The elder Pressey must have married the shortest girl he could find.....
+>..... or the daughter is 6'6''

Seems to me every Defense knows he is pass first.. Does he make a high percentage of FT's and able to score at will like Iverson once did? Either way if retained, he would be a fan favorite......

Well it most certainly was an offensive foul. Though, without the help of replay and with a gym full of screaming fans you'd have to have some intestinal fortitude to deal with the repercussions of that call. As for the flexing at the end, I would have warned him "Nice dunk, we all saw it, no need for all the flexing k?". Good for a warning. Next time it's a T.
