Blazers target Reggie Evans

I think the only people that are depressed are people who expected this team to compete. Which to me was silly given the injury history and Nate

Larry Miller is not a basketball guy. He doesn't know LaMarcus Aldridge from Channing Frye.

Reggie evans is fine at mini mle. One of the best rebounders in the league.

I value rebounding more than just about any poster on this board, but that's ALL Evans does. Other than rebounding, with Evans on the floor, it's like you're playing 4 on 5 - on BOTH ends. We all know he can't score, but he's also a poor defender (when not grabbing someone's junk). He's an undersized 4. Taller players shoot over him like he's not even there. Shorter players also shoot over him AND drive by him like he's not even there.

Its no surprise to me they are targeting him, nate coached him in seattle.

Yes he did. And, the 41 games Evans played in his last season in Seattle was the last time he posted a PER greater than 13.5 - and that was SIX years ago.

Anyone who pays Evans more than the mini-MLE and signs him for longer than two seasons (with the second a team option) will regret it.

Solid points. You could actually apply the same analysis to Camby, he was one of the worst offensive players in basketball last year. Evans would be good in a bit role if the team is in a bind with big men, but that is not somebody you benefit from signing to a multi million dollar multi-year contract.

Disagree on Camby. Yeah, he stunk on offense last season, but Evan stinks on offense and defense. ALL Evans does is rebound. In spite of Camby's awful offense last season, his PER was still 2.4 (14.8) points higher than Evans' (12.4).

Old, injured Marcus Camby blocked more shots in 59 games (92) last season than Reggie Evans has blocked in his entire 9 year NBA career (88). Camby is also a much better passer.

Raptors free agent forward Reggie Evans getting interest from Toronto, Portland, Boston and New Jersey, but nothing close.

I wonder if they are still interested in him after signing Kurt Thomas, or if this is old info.
