In other knew, Erik hopes to meat with Chandler Parsons if we sign him.

I like Olshey's game plan when it comes to FA's. Not sure it will ever work to bring in a big time guy, but doing favors for agents is a good approach for a small market team, IMO. If Sac trades Boogie at some point, it will be nice knowing Fagen probably gives Olshey a call.
Sacramento is ripe for exploitation. If they strike out on Waiters, we can get them to do a S&T for Crabbe.

How depressing will it be if be spurns us for the Grizzlies? Lol
Pretty damn depressing. Worse bball situation, worse living situation, and similar money?

Jeez.

It's why I'm annoyed that there is even a meeting happening. This dude had Dame come down to LA for a day to pitch to him. Does he really need more convincing?

My question, and it's a serious one, is why would anyone be depressed? It should be expected FA's will sign somewhere else.
Somewhere else, sure. But if that somewhere else is a worse city with a worse team and a less stable franchise, then that might lead to some depression.

Memphis has been in the playoffs the last 6 years
The city is fucking awesome
Robert Pera rocks

How exciting will it be if he signs here and that leads to a deal for Howard?
How? If nobody could figure out a (reasonable) way to clear enough space for Whiteside, how are we going to get Howard? You expect him to take a discount?

Actually yes. He has already said he doesn't need a max. With his buddy Parsons on board, I think he would consider less money to get a ring or two.

Debate Chandler Parsons' value if you wish. Market says he's a max player. And there's no doubt he makes Portland or Memphis much better.

How much less do you think? Unless he's dropping down to the neighborhood of $15M/year, I don't see how we bring him in without completely gutting the team.

Oh I forgot.

Mike Miller, another guy we paid and set free: represented by Dan Fegan.

Looking through the list of guys Olshey gave favors to... Brendan Haywood: represented by Andy Miller. Miller also has Porzingis as one of his clients, and Neil was the first to meet with KP before the draft last year. And another one of his clients is Austin Rivers, who we apparently will meet with today. Brian Roberts also an Any Miller guy. He also reps Nerlens Noel.

Can you guys think of anyone else that Neil did a solid for? Maybe that can give us a clue as to who we might be granted meetings with
did a solid for Miami, Cleveland. We got both teams out of the luxury tax.

Assuming Durant goes back, i firmly believe top 4, if healthy (behind Cavs/GSW/Warriors)

For CP I guess it comes down to if he wants to play with Conley, or Lillard and Howard? What's the hold up at that point?

We were in the playoffs for what, 14 straight years? It didn't help us land FAs, as you've pointed out numerous times.

Memphis may be awesome, but it's in a Portland kind of way, not an LA/NY or even Miami kind of way.

Yeah, that's the tough part. I was wondering if a sign-and-trade would open up some possibilities? Houston probably wouldn't be averse to getting something back for him. Let's say that Houston liked Meyers or Harkless enough to take them on starting at around $16M or so and Dwight would agree to a S & T starting at around $25, seems like the Blazers could clear enough to absorb the difference. Probably reasons why that doesn't work, but as far as I can see, as long as one of those guys was amenable to the idea and didn't sign any other offer sheets, it seems plausible. Tell me where I'm off base.

Parsons has been in the league 5 years, so he has seen Memphis in the playoffs every year.

We have been in the playoffs 3 of the 5 years he has been in the league.

But I was just answering a question. There are rational reasons he would pick Memphis over Portland. There are also rational reasons he would pick Portland
