The Blazers really cant get out of the way of terrible TV deals. Really sucks for fans of both teams.

ROOT SPORTS Northwest will delay live Portland Trail Blazers coverage in most of Washington and Alaska when games will conflict with the Seattle Kraken, unless the cable provider offers a second ROOT channel. The preempted games will typically air later that night on replay. The first example of this event will be on October 31st, when the Blazers’ 4:00pm game against the Charlotte Hornets will not air until 10:00 pm in affected regions.

There is no public list of cable providers who will offer the channel, named ROOT Plus. When reached for comment, a ROOT representative said they are “working diligently on setting up alternate channels wherever possible.”

Jesus... Why not just sell the rights to youtube for the same price? Then you don't have to worry about any of this garbage...

Tape, delay, wow we are traveling back in time.

I'm waiting for the phone number to dial in and order BlazersCable pay per view.

I only have a rotary phone, maybe someday I will get a fancy new touch tone one. If I want to really splurge I will get an 800Mhz wireless one.

I mean what’s the problem here? Nobody outside southwest Washington really cares about the Blazers. They’re still watching old Sonic games to give a shit. Oregon isn’t affected by this. We’ll get to watch our team live.

My question is at this point why did ROOT even want the Blazers if they are not a priority?

Because having the Blazers enhances their leverage. They can make more content artificially scarce, hence they can make more money.

I’m in Southeastern Washington. I think you may be underestimating it.

This most definitely deserves its own thread.

This is bullshit. They knew about this long ago and still this is the solution. Just bonkers how dumb they are at very common sense things.

mannnnm. That was gonna be the biggest best thread ever! Denied….

If that means down to down southern Washington, I'm even more glad I didn't sign up.
Back to the old school days of listening to radio.

Anyone with Xfinity in Vancouver care to share if both Root Sports and Root PLUS is available?

Article says on game day conflicts with Kraken, Blazer games will be available live on Root PLUS.

On all other games, they will be on Root Sports.

I also wonder how many game conflicts there are all season. It would be nice to have a list, or at least know how many games.

How ridiculously embarrassing. This team just can’t seem to get out of their own way.

This doesn’t affect me because I have league pass, but truly embarrassing
Probably trying to alienate the fanbase so they can move.

I mean the whole move to ROOT was sold as getting the blazers into more households. While on paper that may be true, this obviously isn't it. Nobody watches tape delayed games in this day and age. Live sports are the only thing people still watch live.

Oh ok. But you get my point. I don’t see the big deal here. Washington doesn’t care about our sports.

I actually found out about this from a Seahawks blog...

Just looking over both teams schedules and I counted 33 games where there is a conflict within a 2 1/2 hour window. I'm not sure if 3 hours is enough time allotted for the full broadcast but just spit balling it. If not, then you could probably add another 4 or 5 to that number. I will say a big majority of those 33 are within an hour of each other, meaning it will be tape delay for sure.

Thank you for doing that. I was on the verge of pulling the trigger for Xfinity but since I live in WA, I will rethink my options. Thanks again!

Logged into my parents Xfinity account (they are in Vancouver) and I don't see anything called ROOT Plus on their channel guide but I might have missed it. Does anyone else in SWWA see this Plus as an option?

Wait, so it's not even on Comcast?

So what was the outcome last night? How long was it delayed?

Google search "reddit nba streams".

there sure appears to be substantial circumstantial evidence that the Vulcans/Seattle just doesn't give a shit at all about the Blazers as a team, just the Blazers as a money machine. From giving Olshey a blank check to trot out one mediocre roster after another, to the TV deals they sign, it all looks like fuck-you's to loyal Blazer fans
