Sergio and Bayless each scored 6 points on Paul with Bayless getting 13 against scrubs.

Sergio 6 - Paul 0

Bayless 6 - Paul 12

Both did fine considering, but Sergio defended admirably, Bayless was outmatched and a step slow.

Giving up 6 points and 7 assists in the first 7 minutes of the game is admirable? I think Paul could have set an NBA record tonight for assists if Sergio guarded him for 48 minutes.

Why beat up Bayless like this? I just don't get the 'one player over another' stances that people make. Aren't they all Blazers?

Not as silly as pretending they aren't a huge part of it, along with not allowing your opponent to score on you, which Paul was unable to do against Sergio.

You apparently use giving up 7 points on 3 straight attempts and committing stupid fouls to define defense.:dunno:

Paul looks to pass first and THEN score ... so what you're really trying to say is that Jerryd took away his first option and turned him into a shooting guard? Sweet, where can we get some more of that?

Yet, Sergio couldn't sniff playing time against those "scrubs" and Bayless did.

We were obviously winning by so much that Nate had to put in the garbage time players.

Before I stumbled across Maris I actually kind of liked Sergio (albeit in a "gee I wish Sergio was better kind of way"). In a weird way his relentless cheerleading makes Sergio almost unbearable and that's kind of sad, 'cause I actually don't really mind Chacho as a backup point guard as a change of pace guy.

No. NO was ahead by so much that they had their scrubs in for the fourth, saving their good players for the overtime period.

That Byron Scott can really coach!

So true.

For some reason, the POR-NO match-ups always end up bein' pretty entertaining!

[Barfo]I should say so![/Barfo]

Paul was able to get 7 assists on Sergio in the first quarter. That's a result of Sergio's defense letting Paul get wherever he wanted.

That's a result of 4 Blazers not playing their men, not denying them the ball, and not contesting their shots.

You gotta be kidding me. You're blaming the other players for Sergio not being able to contain Paul? Granted no one can REALLY contain him, but like Nik said, you'd rather make him a scorer than a passer. Sergio gave Paul easy passes by playing poor defense, period.

Nobody is beating up on Bayless.

Sergio is one who gets beat up here unjustly every game. I like Bayless just fine, but to say he's a defensive marvel that is somehow better than an obviously more experienced and more successful Sergio borders on stupidity.

No, it's a result if them needing to leave their men to play help defense after Paul blew by Sergio.

I know you've got a perpetual boner for Sergio, but I didn't realize all that blood rushing elsewhere made you blind. Good god, Paul was getting ANYWHERE he wanted to on the court whenever he wanted to against Sergio.

That's absurd.

Nobody gets points for passes, no matter how many you make.

And only a pussy "makes' their opponent a scorer.

Bayless did both so what does that mean?

Teams get points from easy shots. A really good passer (like Paul) is often more efficient for the team by passing a lot, even if he's a good scorer (like Paul).

I've lost all hope. You can't even admit when Sergio plays bad. Nothing Sergio does is wrong, ever, he's the greatest player ever, period. Happy?

MB and Rice made a point of saying that it's Paul's passing which teams need to stop, not his scoring. They said that his scoring, while lethal, is not what wins most games.

Sergio Rodriguez:
19:03 Minutes
3 - 6 FG
0 - 0 FT
1 REB
1 AST
0 STL
2 TOV
6 PTS
EFF = 3
+/- = -5

Jerryd Bayless:
24:04 Minutes
7 - 9 FG
5 - 7 FT
2 REB
6 AST
2 STL
1 TOV
19 PTS
EFF = 24
+/- = +16

Could you just, for once, acknowledge what is painfully obvious to every other human being that witnessed the game tonight and admit that Bayless completely outplayed Sergio tonight in every conceivable way. It's not even close. To "argue" otherwise completely undermines any lingering scrap of credibility you may have had at some point in ancient history.

I've come to the conclusion that MARIS has a bomb in his head. If he utters any negative Sergio comments, the bomb explodes. How else do you justify his ridiculous infaturation with El Chacho?

I wouldn't even mind his excessive fandom if he just acknowledged when Sergio played a bad game. I mean, I still love Roy and all, but he laid a stinker tonight. Bayless too, played a pretty bad game on Saturday against the Jazz.

But no, he can't see anything wrong with Sergio. Sergio could play 48 mins and put up 0-0-0 with 5 turnovers and he'd still be raving about his lockdown defense and his ability to almost make a shot.

Racism Maris, that's why no one supports Sergio. JK I support both players and I don't see any reason to knock either. We've been playing great with them in the lineup.

This game is a team sport and Sergio is not the reason guys were getting wide open for easy buckets. Paul is a player I would deem unguardable.

I might have missed it, but I couldn't find a game thread so I'll start this [http://www.sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134281].

Blazers letting the Hornets out hustle them so far.
How could you friggin miss this thread? There was 18 pages ? Its called searching the backpages buddy and not the first page you see on your screen.
Remember that show called "Street Smarts" ? Maybe you should apply to the resurrection of the show part 2.

I wouldn't call it cheerleading.

No real sports fan can really think like this. I think this crosses the boundaries of mere sports. It's fairly obvious most of his other posts are meant to ruffle feathers . . . but on the topic of Sergio, it's a whole different animal.

I think Maris might be stalking Sergio in real life.

It's actually . . . creepy.

Or.... Maris is Jose Calderon. Did they play tonight?

Actually, just to be safe, I'm seriously considering ignoring all members here whose handle starts with the letter "M" - except Minstrel of couse.

Sadly, even as a Laker fan/closet Blazer fan, DaRizzle makes a lot more sense than a good chunk of the self proclaimed Blazers fans here.

the up and down emotions in this game were awesome! Its what sports is about. High highs and Low lows.

Go Blazers! Bayless played well, and so did Travis, Joel and my man LMA! We need to give Oden the ball more, Roy sucked! WOHOO!!!
