I'm with Mixum now. Trade is necessary or we won't make the playoffs. With the Thunder, Kings, and Suns emerging AND the Clippers possibly streaking into contention once Griffin comes back, we're in trouble if we can't score against the Timberwolves. Our depth has completely disappeared with the loss of both Batum and Outlaw. We've lost so much of our athleticism.
 
If this was a playoff team we were playing (instead of Minny), we'd be down 20.


FUCKING UGLY game.
 
Looks like McMillan made a lot of adjustments from last night's game.
 
I know a lot people are say dont freak out and act like the sky is falling and I agree for the most part but at some point you should start to get concerned. This team has some major trouble scoring.

Up 17 at halftime in the first meeting with Miller as the starter

Up 3 at halftime in tonights meeting with Blake as the starter

It has done absolutely nothing for Roy so far.
 
Greg Oden: 4-5 10pts 5 boards 3 blocks. Nah, lets just keep passing it around the perimeter and settling for a 3 against the shot clock. Brilliant.
 
Jerry Stackhouse anyone? I'd be all for a 2 for 1 trade, and then signing him.
 
I've been saying it since the first Hawks' game - Roy looks like he is playing to get Nate fired.

They are trying to get it to Oden. He's being doubled on every possession. All of his scores have been people penetrating and passing, although that's a lot harder than it sounds.
 
It seems that when a player the caliber of Roy misses 4 straight free throws then it is one of three things: 1) he is hurt (which I doubt) 2) he is tired 3) his head isnt in the game and he isnt concentrating
 
For someone who doesn't post regularly nor someone who wants to be negative and feed the the stigma that we are all a bunch of whiners, I must say with what I have watched online from this game, I am pretty concerned as to the direction of the team under the McMillan regime. We still play slow, we don't score, we don't play to our strengths. We will beat the bad teams, win some against the good teams on shear talent alone, but I feel like we are in trouble and have no sense of direction as how to fix this mess.
 
Listen, since there isn't a thread about this on the OT board: If the Ducks could win this game because this is one of the few times I imagine a lot of Beavers fans are rooting for them that'd be cool. GO DUCKS! COME ON!

So why aren't we making them pay for doubling him? That means someone should be open right?

This game certainly isn't making that case. The offense has been pretty weak and Roy is having another lackluster game.

I think I'd rather just start the best players and forget this "Roy's personal caddy" idea for point guard. It's fine to carry a weak-hitting catcher just because he's the personal catcher for a pitcher in baseball...that pitcher will only be in 1 of every 5 games. It's more of problem to give Roy a weak-performing "personal" point guard since that will affect every game...especially when it doesn't actually seem to make Roy play any better.

Blake is solid for a reserve. He's a weakness for the team as a starter.

We made them pay with the starters. They are all with a major + in the game. It's the bench that is playing crap.

Roy is not working well with Miller next to him - but Miller is not working at all with the bench.

You're forgetting that Blake is hitting the threes when Roy gets into trouble. Miller wouldn't hit those threes.

Blake was our leading scorer in the first half. He is not the problem. Without him starting, we would've been blown out in the first quarter.

The offense looked crisp before Roy and Miller started playing together. We were up 21-10 when Blake went out with 2:40 left in Q1. Roy played all his minutes with Miller since.
 
Blake is not the problem. He's been our best player tonight. Oden's been pretty good too, but he doesn't get his looks without Blake.

I'm not forgetting that. I'm pointing out that it hasn't actually led to better team performance.

Hitting three-pointers is definitely Blake's strength. If he couldn't do that, he really wouldn't be NBA-caliber. Miller is better overall. The idea was that Blake's shooting was somehow more important to THIS offense than Miller's overall betterness...but it isn't as if the team looks any more efficient or powerful on offense when Blake starts.
