Well tonight was the first time all season long that he was given the ball and actually asked to BE a point guard. Not a guy who just gives the ball to Roy or a guy who shares the court with Miller. He was asked to be a PG and he delivered. We should stick with him the rest of the season.

He started the season as the starter. They didn't switch to a 3 guard lineup until a few games in the season so this was far from the first time he had a chance to play pg this season.

He wasn't playing PG at the top of the season though. He was just giving the ball to Roy and camping out behind the three point line. Tonight, the ball was put in his hands and he delivered.

That's Webster for you, can't come of the bench worth a damn, but plays decent when starting...

Uh, I think you ignore the truth. Few GM's or coaches believe Blake is a starting PG. I like Blake, I really do, but as a backup. Nearly every poster on this board believes Blake should be a backup. KP believes it, or he wouldn't have signed Miller. McMillan must believe it, or he wouldn't have pushed for Miller.

And again, I ask, how do you know he hadn't been asked to be a PG before? He was a lot of last year. Some games he looks good, some he doesn't. Tonight he looked good.

Did you watch the third quarter? Honest question.

The exact opposite of Outlaw.

Damn, the starters had ridiculous numbers when considering how little time they were in.

Lost in all the other stuff: again, Joel quietly equals or outplays Oden (14/11 for Joel; 16/5 for Oden)

Joel is crushing them in garbage time, Oden was dominating when it mattered. Besides, Joel hardly commands a defender while Oden commands three from the Wolves.

if greg got those 4th quarter minutes he would have freaking beasted. but yeah, pryz is the shit! we are lucky to have two starting centers

What foul rule is Nate using tonight that is keeping Oden on the bench for almost the entire 2nd half?
The one about how Oden is forbidden from playing in blowouts. Dumb, imo, since the young player needs to play whenever possible.

Not true. Joel was great in the first three quarters. And Oden wasn't "dominating" so much as finishing wide open dunks created for him by Blake.

Are you reading my posts? Honest question.

I mean, you're replying, so I assume you are reading them, but you wouldn't have asked the question if you had seen where I said Blake looked good tonight. But again, he doesn't look like that every night. You can tell me he's not given the opportunity, blah blah blah. Fact of the matter, if that's you're argument, then my response is that there's a reason he isn't given more of an opportunity. The coaching staff must not be totally confident in Blake and his ability to perform consistently. And while he looks good at times, there are times he has made simple boneheaded mistakes that have cost Portland games, or at least the opportunity to draw games closer and put the team in a position to win.

Good win against a sub par team.

Nice to see Blake and Webster break out of their shooting slumps. Strong game from Oden and Joel.

Other than poor FT shooting and poor defense in 1st half, a solid win.

I didn't say Joel played bad, but Oden just had a much bigger impact on the game, both offensively and defensively.

Sorry, I was trying to be sarcastic, as it was a pretty big blowout. But I agree, the kid is dominating, let him go out there and build more confidence.

Yes, I read your posts and I saw that you said he "looked good tonight" but did you actually watch the third quarter or were you referring to the box score? Honest question. Why can't you answer it?

Blake's not perfect but he's certainly not the "***got" some make him out to be. He's a very good PG and was the best player on the floor tonight, by far.

I would HATE to see Oden hurt in garbage time. I would never forgive our coaching staff for that.

Why can't I answer? Calm down. Don't be defensive. I'm not attacking Blake. Again, I like Blake. I've seen him look like he did during the third quarter before (so yes, I did watch the third quarter), but I've seen Martell tear it up, and until a player can dominate consistently, I'm not going to get too excited. I'm try not to completely tear a player after his worst performance just as I try not to get too excited after a very solid appearance. Just as Blake looked good in the third quarter, I've also seem him piss games away.

Honestly, do you need to keep saying that?

I just want to make sure it's known. Blake gets crucified in here and people keep saying that no one gets the ball to Oden. But Blake got the ball to Oden, often two or three times during a single possession. He also created most of Oden's baskets. All ODen had to do was finish wide open dunks.

I get not having him out there for the last 5-6 minutes of the game, when things turned real sloppy. But Oden should have gone out for a couple more minutes. But I hear Blake told Nate not to put Oden back in.
