Leonard definitely needs a big man coach to develop his post game. He's athletic and a good free throw shooter though.

Wow, 173 users online. For a summer league game

I was at that Summer League when Bayless was destroying and Lillard looks nothing similar. Lillard showed more PG skills in this game than Bayless has in his entire NBA career.

I agree. If anyone looks like Bayless 2.0, it's Austin Rivers..... that guy looked HORRIBLE.

Only an idiot could think Rivers will ever be an actual PG. Dude has blinders on 24/7.

They're crazy if they try to develop him as a PG.

We made that same mistake with Bayless.

This has me juiced. Fuck. 1am on a Sunday night and I'm thinking about how awesome our rookies were in their debut.

Who'd you guys find more impressive: Dame or Myers?

Really liked DLs character - played poorly for a while, but had enough confidence in himself to come back from it. Really, the best outcome (overcoming adversity)

ML played was really good, but not great. The exciting news, is that he should be able to play that well consistently.

So, I guess I'm a little more excited by ML because I've had confidence in DL from the beginning.

I agree -- for the most part I didn't even notice Barton out there outside a few passes he made.

I noticed all his misses. He looked very off today...I was expecting a guy like him to be a big scorer in the summer league.

Not true your memory is way off. It was all about Harrison Barnes, Drummond or Lilliard. I think there was a rumor that the Blazers liked Rivers at 6 for a minute but I don't remember anyone clamoring for Rivers at 6. A few people at 11 maybe.

Yeah no one said take Rivers at 6 and no one said play him at PG. The discussion was always SG. He is not a PG, but he did show that he is more explosive going to the hoop then some said. He will be fine, Just not as a PG.

I'll say this

I'd much rather have Meyers Leonard than Andre Drummond

I love how hard Leonard takes it to the rim. His upper body strength and the way he handles himself is very impressive. Once Lillard shook off the butterflies he was very impressive. I'd love to see his floater and lob pass in the coming games.

What happened to Smith in the 2nd half. Looked like he was icing his shoulder

Just to be clear, I don't think they look similar either (and I like Damian's demeanor a lot more) ... I'm just saying there's going to be ups and downs with this guy and I hope we don't build him up just to tear him down or let expectations get so out of control based on some games against a lot of guys who will be either fighting for minuts on a roster or a roster spot at all.

For what it's worth I like him and I like his chances.

Footwork, footwork, footwork. Both Lillard and Leonard had great footwork.

If Rivers wasn't there at #10 the Hornets were a lock to draft Meyers Leonard.

I was a big Drummond proponent and I'm looking like I called that wrong now. Way too early to make a call though.

Bayless could at least score. Rivers (tonight at least) looked like the guy I feared he'd be, when there was talk that the Blazers might try to draft him.

Leonard looks like he has a very solid feel for the game.

Watching Drummond in Orlando he showed the exact opposite.

I haven't see a big man with footwork and body control like Leonard's in a long time. He's no D. Howard, but his body type and handles could get there someday.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing in the 4th qtr. It is a different feeling. When Bayless did it he ran people over and got the foul called. Lillard was more under control. His change of speed is excellent.
