How do you figure? Lee has a better career DRtg than both.

It's called hyperbole ...

What it means is that they all suck ass on defense regardless of what a team influenced stat like Drtg says.

Golden State is not only not broadcasting the game on TV, but they didn't even travel up their radio crew! Holy Shit!

If they didn't bring any crew, why the hell did the timeouts seem like it was a nationally broadcast game!?

Didn't listen, anything wrong with Wesley or just resting?

Lee and Aldridge have the same DRtg for their careers. I agree it is a team oriented stat, Aldridge has played on much better defensive teams throughout his career. So to say that LaMarcus is a much better defender than Lee is wrong.

Nothing like a dose of the Warriors to make our offense look like world beaters.

If the Blazers played the Warriors and Clippers 82 games a year, in Portland, they'd break the Bulls record of 72 wins!

Well, probably not. They'd probably only win 50 games.

He is a Nate McMillan clone, obviously more athletic then Nate was, but same up in your face tough style!

Adam Morrison's mother NOW is more athletic than Nate was.

I've been cautiously optimistic about his future ever since summer league myself. It'll be interesting to see if he develops a reliable jumper from beyond 15 feet and makes him a well rounded enough threat that you can't keep him off the court.

In any case I don't think we'll see much of him unless we try to stream Stampede games this year.

Ah shit, Zags, he's talkin smack about your boy Morrison!

Actually, I'm talking smack about Nate McMillan.

I wonder if he'll win as many games for us as Torrean Green did!

"I think Taurean Green is going to win us three or four games for us this year,'' McMillan said. "I do.''

And he did ... trading him for Von Wafer probably helped that team win at least 2 games, maybe even 3!!

Driving home from the game tonight I was listening to the radio and just before Jay Allen was going to interview Wesley Matthews, someone else was talking to Wesley and it sounded like the guy was questioning if he was faking the injury and saying he was soft! Wesley responded there is not one player in this league that would say I'm soft. I wonder who that guy was. What a loser.

well, who are the two local reporters who make up shit, or try to start shit?

I'll give you two guesses, and the first one doesn't count.

Patty Mills can't even get in a game against the Warriors? Jesus, take the message Patty.

He can't play D to save his life, but man does he do more with less then anybody in the league! Led the NBA last year in double doubles and he is a 6'8" cracker!

No, that would be Luis Scola. He's a 6'8" cracker who can't even jump. AND he manages to play D, so he does twice as much as Lee.

I just went and watched the highlights at NBATV. What I find interesting is so far Bayless is actually having a pretty good pre season being a PG and nobody is mentioning it much. Check out the NBATV highlights. Notice how many of the assist on it are Bayless? Notice how many of them are him making plays in the open court? Notice how he is finding Rudy? That has been going on all pre season. Not a peep about it on the boards.

I was at the game, he wasn't anything noteworthy, typical Bayless from what I saw. Didn't really notice anything to show that he's a better PG than he was before. In fact, there was a point at the end of the 3rd quarter I think where Bayless had the ball instead of Roy to end the quarter. I guess they wanted him to get something to happen and he dribbled around and I dont think a shot went up before the end of the quarter.

I was at the game too and don't think Bayless had a big impact on the game. I didn't look at the boxscore but never really felt much presence on the court from Bayless. I think he is having a hard time fitting his game in and finding his niche on this team.

I thought Rudy and Nik really worked well together.

Probably put my foot in my mouth with Roy (since I haven't looked at the boxscore) but I swear even Miller is trying harder than Roy out there right now.

FWIW-Last game I went to there was about a 50/50 mix of boos and cheers for Rudy. This game, Rudy didn't get huge cheers when coming into the game, but very few boos. After a couple threes he was gettting all applause and no boos.

Yeah I was trying to pay attention to that dynamic. I definitely saw a few key times where Roy would get open and Miller was trying to get his own shot more than anything else. I think Broy ended up with something 7 5 5, nothing spectacular but nothing bad considering its preseason.

On the other hand, it seemed Stephen Curry was playing the whole entire game including garbage minutes. Which boggled my mind.

Apparently you're not alone in your assessment.

Ben Golliver from his media row report on Blazersedge.com

Jerryd Bayless

The longer the preseason continues, the more heckling Jerryd Bayless receives from around my media row seat. Bayless had an average game tonight but the newness and excitement about his skillset has evaporated entirely and that has led to a lot of griping about his deficiencies, which are mostly still there from last year (especially finishing in traffic when he's not fouled or opts for a floater). Tonight, Bayless had a very respectable 4 assist to 1 turnover ratio, but something was still off: passes would be slightly late or slightly low, they would come after he got himself into trouble in the paint, open players would be missed on his way to the hoop.

His final line reveals relatively efficient production for a backup - 8 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists in 23 minutes -and he played hard on defense. The problem for Bayless, in addition to familiarity catching up to him, is comparative: next to rookie Armon Johnson he looked less productive and less exciting.

And here's something to stoke a little bit of backup point guard controversy ... maybe

Armon Johnson

Armon Johnson played his best game in a Blazer uniform tonight, Summer League included. His on-ball defense has been very good all preseason. Johnson was probably chest-to-chest with the doctor after his mother delivered him. "I bet you want to walk across the hall to check on that other woman who is delivering a baby, don't you? Sorry, but you'll have to go through me to do that, Doc. That's just the way I am wired."

Aside from the defense, Johnson showed he has been listening to McMillan preach the past few weeks about five guys hitting the glass on both ends. Johnson had 5 rebounds in 17 minutes, a number of them in traffic, the kind of rebounds that make you slap yourself on the forehead and say, "Man, that's a great rebound for a point guard," and then slap yourself again for boring yourself with such a self-evident observation. Johnson also hit a three-pointer (!), a sweet pull-up jumper and a memorable runner to the basket.

Add it up: 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 0 turnovers on 5-8 shooting. A coach's dream, for a night. Areas of concern or needed development for Johnson at this point: consistent decision-making, running the pick-and-roll sets more smoothly and increasing his familiarity with Portland's best players. He is challenging Cunningham for title of "Hungriest Blazer".

For sure Johnson is going to have to continue to improve his consistency and I doubt he's any serious threat to Bayless until the mid-point of the season, but it's worth keeping an eye on.

I know Scola's an International player so you are in love with him.

But, Scola has a worse DRtg than Lee. So you're flat out wrong.

We haven't really been able to watch the games.

I have not seen too many Armon games - but the ones I did see, I absolutely loved. I can't remember the last time we had a PG on the roster that was so physical on defense and seems to be in control of the offense without being spectacular or ball-hog.

Way to early for me to really commit - but this guy might be my new "can't wait to see him get more minutes" guy on the roster.

Yeah, sure screwed the Bay Blazers fans. We got a tiny recap in the Sunday newspaper, most of the sports section devoted to the Giants and the local bad and terrible NFL teams.
