"Hold on. Are you tellin' me we won the whole thing?"
"Yup."
"Bwhahahahaha ..."
Congratulations are in order. Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy and forward LaMarcus Aldridge have officially been crowned Ball Don't Lie's 2-on-2 All-Star Tournament champions. Hypothetically typing, of course. Stop laughing for a second and take your bow, gentlemen.
No doubt backed by the few million Blazers' blogs out there, our sixth-seeded Western Conference squad defeated LeBron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas with 54% of the vote in the final. Yes, in the end, even the mighty L-Train couldn't steamroll over Blazer's Edge and friends. (Where were you Fear The Sword? Where were you?)
Roy and Aldridge's impressive title run included wins over the Spurs' Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, the Lakers' Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, the Thunder's Kevin Durant and Jeff Green and the Hornets' Chris Paul and David West. That's six or seven All-Stars right there. Ridiculous.
Let us pray that the NBA adopts this idea so we can really see how things would play out.
