TRADE #1:

Pryzbilla / Outlaw / Webster / Blake / + Draft Pick

to Wizzards

for

Jamison / Butler / Oberto

TRADE #2

Aldridge / Miller

to Spurs

for

Tony Parker / Michael Finley

RESULTS:

Parker / Bayless / Mills (The perfect guard to teach both Bayless & Mills!)
Roy / Rudy / Finley
Butler / Cunningham / Batum (next year: Butler/Batum/Cunningham)
Jamison/Pendergraph
Oberto/Howard (next year Oden weaves into play)

When everyone gets healthy - we have a Championship within two years!

Parker
Roy
Butler
Jamison
Oden

with Bayless/Rudy/Batum/Pendergraph/Oberto off the bench (Mills/Cunningham + filler as reserves)

I want "meat and potatos" and I'm hungry now!

Oh hey, today is a day that ends in the letter "Y" so it must mean another trade idea from boom. Yea.

I don't think you have enough players involved. Let's just swap full rosters with OKC.

If they're willing to do that, why would we do the Parker deal?

To get rid of a young, always-going-to-be-a-lazy-ass Aldridge! And Miller.

To get Tony Parker!

With a trade for Jamison, we'd no longer need Lamarcus Aldrige's (LA's....I mean, LAzy's) services!

What a waste of talent. Reminds me of a guy named Rasheed.

No, not the entire roster - only need to keep ROY. After that, all can go for the right pieces!

I kept over half! [besides, Nate only plays 7 guys now anyways! :sigh:]

: Roy, Rudy, Bayless, Mills, Batum, Pendergraph, Cunningham, Howard, Oden

got rid of: Pryz (done anyway), Blake (expiring), Outlaw (expiring), LA, Miller and Webster.

So if you look at it a bit more critically - you'll really find that all we "lost" was LA-zy, Miller and Webster and perhaps a pick or two.

Our gain:

Jamison / Butler / Parker / Oberto / Finley (yes, Finley will be let go, because he's old, big deal).

This is actually a great set of moves: Washington unloads huge coin - only being stuck with Pryz for a year - and can let Outlaw and Blake go (huge cap relief) - and they'll keep Webster.

In turn, we too unload ourselves of a long-term deal with Lamarcus! PS: We should have waited until the summer to negotiate with him! He may have been forced to try a little harder!

For the Spurs - Parker is soon to be a free-agent, Duncan is about done - so they can move Parker, pick up Miller to get them by - and add LA (alongside Duncan) for a strong shot at the title, this year...then they can build around LA in future years.

We have two young guards in Bayless and Mills. After all, we made moves, picks to get these young guys - might as well groom them (or else, what was the point in brining them in?) - and I cannot think of a better mentor for the next three years or so than Tony Parker! He's a champion. Just think of a Parker/Roy tandem! Best gurad tandem in a decade....if it gets done NOW, not in two years.

I like trade #1 we dont need 2. Butler is our new 6th man when Oden is back. hes 6 foot9 and can plays both the 3 and 4.

Miller
Roy
Jamison
Lamarcus
Oden(Butler@SF when Oden is out)
with Bayless/Rudy/Batum/Pendergraph/Oberto off the bench (Mills/Cunningham + filler as reserves

So do you not think SA scouts Aldridge at all? I like how he's lazy and worthless on our team, but they're going to build around him there. How does that work?

This is why you aren't a GM.

This is why you aren't a GM.

Nope, not a GM. :biglaugh:

Just a fan - like you!

Got any ideas? Go ahead - step out on a limb! Give it a crack LameR!! You can do it!
Go ahead, let us hear your thoughts!

:drumroll:

...and he's a starting SF - - much greater in value than Outlaw/Batum/Webster/ in a starting role on our team.
right, but much greater in value in a starting role for the Wiz as well.

I know some posters really like turning over trade scenarios, but league history shows that most trade action happens right around the Feb trade deadline and the draft. This means that any substantial deal in the next few weeks is very unlikely. The chances of a one sided fleecing are substantially less.

just adding talent doesn't guarantee anything. Look at how slow this years team started off, and we were "loaded".

I'm with the belief that if you polled GM's around the league, Lamarcus would be one of the most coveted, young PF's in the league.

I just happen to think that he's lazy. He plays with a laissez-faire attitude. Never have seen a scowl (or look of seriousness) on his face - but always see a goofy grin/smirk - - even with seconds to go in a tight game? Just don't get it. If he played "tough" he'd rule at the PF position.

Nevertheless, GM's around the league would love to have him. In my opinion, here is how I stack him up against other (true) PF's on the current All-Star Ballot:

I see LA (currently) equal to or greater than 12 of the 24 PF's on the ballot. This puts him (currently) in the middle of the pack. Some would say, with tons of upside because of his age, etc.

LA < Carlos Boozer
LA < Tim Duncan
LA < Pau Gasol
LA = Jeff Green
LA ? Blake Griffin
LA ? Kevin Love
LA > Kenyon Martin
LA > Paul Millsap
LA < Dirk Nowitski
LA = Lamar Odom
LA = Luis Scola
LA > Al Thornton
LA < David West
LA < Chris Bosh
LA > Elton Brand
LA < Kevin Garnett
LA > Udonis Haslem
LA < Antawn Jamison
LA < David Lee
LA < Josh Smith
LA > Andersopn Varejao
LA = Charlie Villanueva
LA < Gerald Wallace

Adjusting for "age" and "upside" I'd say he improves to the number 8th or 9th spot versus 12th amonst the League's current group of All-Star ballot PF's. (But remember, there are other PF's not on the All-Star Ballot!)

LA = Carlos Boozer

So the question remains: Would a trade of LA plus Miller entice the Spurs for Tony Parker (F/A to be) and near-retirement-age Michael Finley.

I say YES!

This trade would be acceptable (today) by the Spurs.

And I'd say, if we were to pick up Jamison and Butler (via other trade), this would be an excellent move on the Blazers part.

Tony Parker is elite. He would play well with Roy. He knows how to feed a big man, and he can penetrate. High basketball IQ. Great mentor for Bayless and Mills (I think Mills is Parker's protege)

But I would not make this trade unless I knew we were getting Jamison.

Interesting find:

Look at per36's and the Advanced stats. Tell me what you think.

Interesting. I'm thinking more along the lines of fleecing the Wizzards for both Jamison and Butler as a package. Butler outrebounds Webs at a SF position, but overall, Webs stands up pretty good head-to-head.

Compare Jamison with Aldridge! That would be interesting to see these numbers. I'm not sure how / where you get this info from. Thanks!

You could do it too....go to basketball-reference.com, check out their "Player Comparison Finder", and you can do any two players from any season head-to-head. There are a bunch of other cool tools there as well...I recommend playing around a bunch to see what the site can do.

I think it'd be tough to get Jamison and Butler for what we'd have to give up both in talent and the salary to make it work. Jamison's higher on my list than Butler. But I don't necessarily think a volume scorer's what we need if LMA's healthy.

Agreed. Jamison is my own personal target in all of this. If there were a way to pry Gortat from Orlando, I'd like him as well - but this would leave Orlando with no back-up 5.

The only way we're getting Jamison is if Washington want to dump salary and blow it up - and throw away the rest of this year (probably no big deal now). So they'd have to take Outlaw, Blake, etc. to send us Jamison. Maybe Pryzbilla. Just not sure how the trading of injured players works? Is this a problem, if the receiving team is fine with it?

No. As long as the receiving team's cool with it (and if they're dumping long contracts or getting other assets, that's what trades are about) you can make any trade the CBA allows. Now if we were to see that Webster ripped an ACL on the last play last night, and didn't tell that to the Wiz as we consummated the Webster/Blake for Haywood deal, then they would be able to rescind for a presumably healthy player failing a physical.
