@Mike_Schmitz: Love the way Jedi plays. Non stop energy. Sneaky athletic. Good feel. Potential on D. Just really needs to be able to make spot threes.

Wow. Lots of ugly names in that list of 32 late 1st round picks.
Here are some of quality:
1972, Dave Twardzik
1975, Bob Gross
1976, Johnny Davis
1985, Terry Porter
1986, Arvydas Sabonis
Some that were decent:
1988, Mark Bryant
1990, Alaa Abdelnaby
2003, Travis Outlaw
2006, Joel Freeland
Clearly the Blazer's best drafting years were in the 70s & 80s. The 90s & 00s have been pretty dry...

I bet if you did the same thing for the Jazz it would look pretty damn good.

I've been listening to a couple of podcasts by a jazz dude who's really good. One of the things they brought up was that GMs are basically greedy. Everyone knows RHJ will be a very good NBA player. However, GMs are going for "very, very good" NBA players. Many teams will pass on RHJ and Justin Anderson in search for platinum passing on gold. This is a very good thing for teams drafting outside the lottery.

Not to be overly repetitive, but we can't afford to come out of this draft with the 23rd best player, we need someone better. With these guys we'll get just that.

When I lived there from 98'-08........the joke was that their 2nd round picks were always better than their first. I know they brought in Tony Parker 3 times and passed on him for another PG (Raul Lopez) who would save them some money because he intended to stay overseas an extra year.

in 2004 they had three picks in the top 21 (Humphries, Snyder and Podlkolzin)
They did much better with undrafted players and 2nd rounders.........

My first thought would be trade up for Winslow. I would love Russell but he'll go in the top 3.
Winslow would be cool but who are we giving up with 23?

The only way I see us getting high enough to get Winslow would be Detroit... The deal would have to be something like Batum, Kaman and 23 for Meeks and 8. Don't know if that would be worth it.

I would love Winslow - but it would be an incredible Hail Mary to pull that off. If he falls out of the top 5, he could be the steal of the draft.

Stanley Johnson might be more realistic. He strikes me as a low risk guy with a reasonable chance to be a noticeable upgrade over Batum.

With Saric staying for up to 2-3 more seasons in Turkey...

ACB teams offering big money to keep their players...

Players are now signing extensions through 2019-2020...

Combined with the fact that he WILL sign a new contract with Real Madrid this summer, I'm putting Hernangomez down my list. Way down.

1a) Delon Wright
1b) Kevon Looney
3) Robert Upshaw
4) Willy Hernangomez
5) Jonathan Holmes

Looking at who Neil brought in is a sign of what he has planned.

There has only been three workouts with projected 1st rounders, the rest have been second round talent.

He's either moving up - or out.

I went back and rewatched Olsheys exit interview and it was interesting when he talked about the draft because he mentioned how theyll be active and how they have assets. He mentioned these things more than the actual pick. Also mentioned that roster building doesn't begin on July 1st, but before that. I dont know, I just got the vibe that he's going to try and make a move on draft night.

And the only real asset I can think of in a trade is Batum, unless of course he's ready to give up McCollum or Leonard.

• It’s crunch time and a bunch of teams are making it clear they’re open to moving their picks. Among those teams are ones drafting at the tail end of the first round, including Portland, Golden State and the Los Angeles Lakers.

That'd be funny if Olshey traded OUT of the first round. Any reason to do that?

To get a player you like as part of a package deal with a player you don't... so Blazer + 23rd Pick for Better Player...?

I was thinking that it would be kind of awesome if Philly gave us ALL FIVE of their second rounders for our first rounder. Then we could take:

35 and 37. Hernangomez/Milutinov/Jaiteh/Richaun Holmes
47. JP Tokoto/Cedi Osman/Josh Richardson/Norman Powell
58 and 60: Alan Williams/Treveon Graham/Dez Wells/Terran Petteway/Branden Dawson/"Speedy" Smith

You've got to figure ONE of them would end up a useful player...

Hey - that could actually work!

If we keep the pick, Jonathan Holmes is racing up my personal draftboard (if you know what I mean). Reminds me of Dante Cunningham, in a good way. Versatility is now the key and he's been played at the 3 and the 4.

Well just off the top of my head that stat is wrong because Klay Thompson was picked 11th in 2011 and he made the All-NBA 3rd team this year.
dates of data include '97-2012
forget it I miss interpreted what you were saying
