The BMW Charity Pro-Am is a golf tournament on the Nationwide Tour. It is played at Thornblade Club in Greer, South Carolina, The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Bright's Creek Golf Club in Mill Spring, North Carolina.

The 2009 purse was $700,000, with $126,000 going to the winner.

Jackson, Marin, Quaid withdraw from BMW Pro-Am

Today, officials from the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation announced that the following celebrities have had to withdraw from the 2010 tournament due to schedule conflicts: Samuel L. Jackson, Steve Azar, Jason Dohring, Pat Green, Cheech Marin, Dr. Phil McGraw and Dennis Quaid.

Rice Competing In BMW Pro-Am

Officials of the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation announced today that 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Jerry Rice will compete as a professional in the 2010 tournament.

This is the second time Rice has competed as a professional. His first tournament was last week at the Fresh Express Classic at TPC Stonebrae.

"After years of playing as an amateur, I was excited to launch my professional golf career at the Fresh Express Classic,” said Rice. “I look forward to playing on the East Coast in May at the BMW Charity Pro-Am.”

Jerry Rice shoots 92 at BMW Charity Pro-Am

Hall-of-Fame receiver Jerry Rice set another record Thursday, although this wasn't one he'd hoped for at the BMW Charity Pro-Am.

Rice shot a 92, the highest score ever since this Nationwide Tour event began in South Carolina's Upstate in 1992.

Rice talked before the tournament of buying Cristal for everyone if he'd reached his goal and made the cut. He saw those hopes doused early when he couldn't avoid the water at The Carolina Country Club.

He put three shots into the water on the par-4 second hole for a 10. Things never improved from there. His 20-over finish was two shots worse than the 90 put up by Shawn McCaughley in 2006 at The Cliffs Valley Course.

Piller, Gutschewski, Hicks share BMW lead

Three players share the 36-hole lead at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, the Nationwide Tour's ninth event of the year. Two-time Tour winner Scott Gutschewski, Michigan native Justin Hicks and first-round co-leader Martin Piller are knotted at 131, one stroke ahead of a trio that played Carolina CC today; Kevin Chappell (68), Fabian Gomez (68) and Tag Ridings (64).

Gomez surges to 54-hole lead at BMW Charity Pro-Am

Fabian Gomez had a simple goal at this week's BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by Synnex Corporation. The 31-year old from Argentina wanted to finish one spot higher than he did a year ago. While it may not seem like much, considering that Gomez lost a playoff to Australia's Michael Sim in 2009, the goal becomes easier said that done.

Gomez put himself in prime position to reach the summit with an 8-under 64 in Saturday's third round, giving him an 18-under par 197 total and a one-stroke lead heading into Sunday's finale. Gomez has posted scores of 64-69-64 at three different courses, polishing off his play today at the Bright's Creek Golf Club in Mill Spring, N.C.

Hicks wins by two strokes at BMW Charity Pro-Am

Justin Hicks outlasted everyone, including Mother Nature, to earn his second career Nationwide Tour title Sunday. Hicks shot a final-round 66 at the Thornblade Club to win the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation by two strokes over a quartet of players and earn the $108,000 first-place

Needing only a two-putt par at the final green, Hicks rolled in a three-foot birdie to finish at 20-under 266, two strokes better than Kevin Chappell (68), Tommy Gainey (67), Chris Kirk (66) and Jamie Lovemark (65).

Fabian Gomez, the 54-hole leader and a playoff runner-up here a year ago, bogeyed the final hole for a 1-over 72 and solo sixth place.

The win is his first since capturing the 2008 Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic in a playoff over Casey Wittenberg.

"The first puts you on the map," said Hicks. "The second one says that you're not a one-hit wonder. I'd like to think I can make a career out of this game. It will probably take a day or two before this sinks in. Right now it just feels like I won the race for the day, not the whole tournament."
