Any of you go boating, whether as a passenger or a boater?

I've been a few times on the ocean, etc...now that the weather is getting nicer, might do some more.
 
I go boating, but it's not on the ocean. Although I once did a deep sea fishing trip with my grandfather. I love the ocean, but I'm not terribly keen on being on the ocean.
 
I'm not much of a boat driver myself, but I like being on boats a lot and have been out on the water in various places around the world in craft of all sizes. It's a quick and easy way to have an adventure that you barely lived through.

I've been on large-ish cruise ships. I guess that doesn't count, what with stabilizers and such. Still, it's nice to be able to look out over the ocean in all directions.

I enjoy both powerboating and sailing. Unfortunately for me, both are in short supply here in CO. Meanwhile, I have two bays of my garage in Oregon filled with seaworthy vessels just waiting to be returned to their natural habitat. God, I hate living in Colorado.
 
yeah, friends in oregon had a speeed boat we'd take on the Willamette...good shit. esp. 4th of july
 
My dad got a 48 foot Duckworth fishing boat a couple years back. I go out fairly often, not as much as I'd like though. My buddy has a boat that we wakeboard and water ski off of. Being on the Columbia on a 90 degree day, beer in hand with females galore is one of my favorite past times. Our yearly Lake Billy Chinook trip is a blast as well.
 
I've went out bottom fishing on the ocean quite a few times. Out of Depoe Bay a few years ago and use to go out of Newport with my dad. You can see the power of the ocean out on a small charter boat.

I've rented a deck/pontoon boat at Promontory Park a few times. Would love to buy a pontoon boat.
 
I guess relative to most people yes. When I was 12 or 13 I spent three weeks on a sailboat learning to sail as we went through the San Juan Islands and into Canada. Before my dad passed away when I was 8, we used to go crabbing for Dungenous crabs a lot. I still have the nets, which are high quality and have long lines for use in the deeper waters.

I have other friends whose families "Go to the lake" and go intertubing and stuff, but my family never did that much. The most beautiful site I've ever seen on a boat was traveling through all of these tiny islands on a ferry boat between Turin, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden. It was beautiful, sunny, and a really cool experience. There is a much better story attached, involving Russian Prostitutes, alcohol, riding the subway, and wearing a Speedo (in that order), but it would take much too long to tell in detail here.

You did the Stockholm Archipelago? I used the sail the Gotland Runt which started at Sandhamn. Words can't describe the beauty of the trip from Stockholm by boat in the summer.
