Bomb Squad Sent to Rush Limbaugh's House

Yeah, I don't think that's good enough, Denny. Don Imus, okay, you can call him one, or at least a humorist, but Limbaugh isn't a comedian.

I always saw him as like Johnny Carson. A comedian who draws his monologue from current events. Just because you say he isn't a comedian doesn't make it so.

I've heard him do NFL game picks. "The Bears will beat the Dolphins because bears eat fish."

Does he say he's a comedian? Cause it works both ways, bro.

Did Carson say he was a comedian?
Yeah that comparison is valid...

I've never seen or heard anyone call Limbaugh a comedian. A clown, maybe, but not in the context you're using. You are the first. You want me to prove he isn't one? How does that work?

Ok, I didn't know about all those songs. Fair enough. Paul Shanklin is a comedian.

I don't consider Bill Maher on his talk show or Limbaugh on his talk show funny, but they are similar in how they approach their jobs. They are bombastic clowns who say outrageous things for a living.

Whether or not they're comedians is up to the audience, isn't it? Unless there is some official 'comedian' label that one must earn or buy in order to be considered a comedian?

Performing comedy?

Saying funny things on occasion doesn't not a comedian make. Anyone with a sense of humor, even one as fucked as Rush's, would qualify.

I'm just not comfortable with equating guys like Limbaugh to comedians who have 20+ years of stand up and comedy specials on their resumes, political leanings aside. The Maher/Limbaugh comparison is something the cons are pushing right now for some absurd reason, as if Maher was a powerful liberal figure of anywhere near the humongous stature of Limbaugh's (see, I guess speeds is a comedian too).

Look at Rush's wiki page and the instances of the words comedy, humor, and satire are zero. Joke comes up once describing him making light of being caught with erection pills. Comedian comes up once in reference to Al Franken.

Rush Limbaugh does voice impersonations.

There are two possibilities:

1. Rush is not comedian, because he does not view himself as one and does not present himself as one
2. Rush is a comedian, which means a large part of the conservative movement in the US takes serious policy prescription and political beliefs from a comedian

Barack Obama, President, lawyer, and Al Green impersonator. Right?

The program airs live and primarily consists of Limbaugh's own monologues, based on the news of the day, interspersed with parody ads, phone calls from listeners and a variety of running comedy bits (some live, some taped).

Democrats have been taking political beliefs and policy prescriptions from late night comedians for decades.

Hell, they elected an actual clown to the senate in Minnesota.

Well, that's Minnesota. They have a problem up there, they'll vote for absolutely anyone. Jesse Ventura, Michelle Bachmann....

My guess is that their All-You-Can-Drink polling places aren't a good idea after all.

It seems to have spread. All over the country, people voted for absolutely anyone in 2006 and 2008.

And no, I am not at all a fan of Limbaugh. I am not here to defend him, just to point out the hypocrisy where he gets (rightly so) slammed for saying something way over the top and others do not.

Online Poll: Jon Stewart Is America's Most Trusted Newsman

Well, in a result that he will probably accept as downright apocalyptic for America, The Daily Show's Jon Stewart has been selected, in an online poll conducted by Time Magazine, as America's Most Trusted Newscaster, post-Cronkite. Matched up against Brian Williams, Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson, Stewart prevailed with 44 percent of the vote

Mostly a comment on the sad state of news in America. Jon Stewart isn't considered a major voice in the Democratic party or anything, so I don't see how that's comparable to Limbaugh.

In any case, of the two options I provided, I'm pretty sure (1) is the correct one.

maybe he does? i really wouldnt know as ive never caught his show, but maybe all of his takes are satire?

 scary if true, as ALOT of people think rush limbag is the "news"

I'm pretty sure you're wrong about both.

Stewart's TV show is a daily commercial for the Democratic Party. Not saying Limbaugh's show isn't a commercial for the republican party.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong about both.

I'm comfortable with your thinking that Rush is both a comedian and not a comedian (the logical result of thinking both of my options are wrong).

As a Republican, you're entitled to your right-leaning viewpoint.

As a Republican, you're entitled to your right-leaning viewpoint.

You have a point there.

But the shape of your head doesn't discourage me (pointy headed liberal).

And I'm not a republican.

Need to update your joke book from the 1940s Republican Cocktail Party Jokes.

Agree to disagree.

Wrong again. I share the lower taxes, smaller government, economic views of republicans, but social views to the left of even you.

I wouldn't trust in any republican to actually live up to those ideals mentioned. I just happen to find Democrats to be far more authoritarian and statist.
