How do we decide who gets the Blazers?

Coors light drinking contest?

Cool idea though. If you wanted to do it legit I think you would want to start up a fantasy league and draft the teams accordingly.

Yeah but drafting a fantasy team isn't realistic. My idea is predicated on testing your GM skill!

No interest or too complicated. Alright

Bones, good idea.
In the very old days (90s) we used to have a volunteer (for each team) act as a GM before draft day. They would make a 5 or 6 paragraph scouting report on their team, and present it at the draft. Each GM had a couple of hours to publish their scouting report and draft their chosen player. It was fun, we did it about a week before the actual draft. You assumed for purposes of the draft that no trades were made, but GMs did talk about possible trades in their scouting report.

I recently came up with this idea and I'm posting it to see if there's any interest in this game/sim. Hopefully its simple enough for everyone to understand.

Heres how it will work:
-Each person who wants to play will get control of a team or two. (If we have 15 people, everyone will get 2 teams. If we have 25 people, 20 would get one and 5 would get 2 teams, and so forth

-From FEB 1st and later, all real NBA moves won't count. The rosters in this game will only reflect the moves you make.

EVENTS:

Trade Deadline
-From the beginning of February through the trade deadline, you will be looking to make at least one trade deadline deal for your team(s). This will require you to try to sell other members of the site on trades (through inbox of course) and you will be graded on your moves, and given a point total based on your grade. (If it's taking a step backwords, but creating a brighter future, you could get a better grade than if you sell the future just to make the 8th seed.) Trades will be checked through the espn trade machine and I'll predict conference rank at the end of the season and set the draft accordingly

Draft Day
In May, we'll simulate draft day. where you can make "draft day trades" pick players for your team(s). You're draft will be graded and points will be given accordingly.

Free Agency
In early June I'll send you a list of your free agents. Each free agent will have contract terms that they're asking for or a notice saying they're testing free agency. (Thhis will be somewhat based on what the actual free agent would do)

There will be other details such as Bird Rights, cap holds, max contract, etc. (I'll also explain what these mean if you need help.) You will then either offer a contract (which will be accepted or declined) or let them walk.

In Mid to Late June, you will be able to offer contacts along with a pitch on why they should sign there. Each offer will be given odds on the player accepting it.
For example: Kevin Durant odds would look something like: OKC 55%, WAS 30%, POR 4%, etc.
I will use those odds to randomly pick the team in which they sign with using a lottery style system. (Number picked between 1 and 100).
You will be graded on your free agency and given points accordingly.

We should do something like that for the draft at least. That'd be fun
