As some of you know, I'm having fun doing some YouTube videos lately.
I thought I'd start a thread for my award race video series. I'm going to be doing bi-weekly MVP and Rookie-of-the-Year Ladders (Basically, power rankings for the award race). I might do one for Most Improved as well. Figured I'd start a thread and update the OP throughout the season and we can discuss the award races.
MVP Ladder:

MIP Ladder:
Possibly Coming Soon
Thanks man! Cousins is hard to place, but if he keeps those numbers up he'll be borderline top 5. Hard to put two players from the same team in the top 10 and it's hard to pick between Davis and Cousins.Nice video. Really well done.
Agree with your top three, but personally I'd put Cousins at four and drop Steph down a spot. Cuz is averaging 29, 13, 6 with 2 blocks and 1.5 steals. His advanced stats are incredible, too. And I know you're not tracking records, but Pelicans are 6-5, which is pretty good with their dearth of talent surrounding AD and Cuz.
Still, really enjoyed the video. Nice job, man!
We talkin' campus TV?! That could be taken as an insult!!!Bones You could star on a college TV show! Got some talent dude!
+Seriously "Big 10" network level. You get paid! ComplimentsThanks man! Cousins is hard to place, but if he keeps those numbers up he'll be borderline top 5. Hard to put two players from the same team in the top 10 and it's hard to pick between Davis and Cousins.

All seriousness, thanks man! Appreciate it!
Thanks man!What a silly ranking.
So record doesn't matter but small sample stats do? I think it all matters. Right now, all we have is what we have. I think my list makes the most sense for RIGHT NOW. Which is all you're doing, right? MVP right now. And if your team has a crappy record, you're not a CURRENT top candidate for MVP.It's 1/8th of the season. Record doesn't matter yet.
Every team is within about 4 games of each other. At the end of the season, a 4-game difference doesn't really make a difference in the MVP race. Two games are the difference between 4-5 and 6-3. That can boil down to two plays, and make a huge difference, so why should we dock players for that? That's a lot more variable within a small sample size than stats. So record doesn't matter but small sample stats do? I think it all matters. Right now, all we have is what we have. Yes a 4 game difference does matter. Most of the time, MVP goes to best player on best team. Last year was an anomaly. Also- 4 games in 10 games means they will be 24 game difference over season. 29-53. MVP won't go to player with losing record.Every team is within about 4 games of each other. Do you not understand random variation, and how early season records are extremely subject to that??Yes a 4 game difference does matter. Most of the time, MVP goes to best player on best team. An asshole. (Am I allowed to personally insult myself? LMAO.)
No DeMarcus? My MVP ranking if season ended today:
1. James Harden
2. LeBron James
3. Steph Curry
4. Giannis
5. Joel Embiid
6. Kyrie Irving
7. LaMarcus Aldridge
8. Anthony Davis
9. Kristaps Porzingis
10. Nikola Jokic/Damian Lillard
Davis is much higher ranked in PER.No DeMarcus?
Yeah, he's also missed time. PER is somewhat flawed too, I don't consider that stat to be honest.Davis is much higher ranked in PER.
