I was thinking, as I am sometimes wont to do, who I'd like at PF better than LaMarcus. What I love about Aldridge is his size and quickness on defense. Even when struggling with his offense, he's good at that (a la Sheed) as we saw in the Bulls game, where he was helping out on Rose. What I'm not so keen on is his below average rebounding, and inconsistency on offense. Now, these could change - he's young - or they might not (Shareef stayed "soft" his whole career). So who would I like better? Chris Bosh. He's not quite as big as LaMarcus, but he's tougher (LaMarcus himself said it, because they've worked out together), he's great on defense AND offense, rebounds very well and he's an all-around great guy (a YouTube star).
Why might we be able to get him? Answer: because Toronto knows they're very likely to lose him. Every team in the league (practically) is maneuvering to get cap space for the LeBron free agency bonanza (summer of '10), and that's when Bosh is a UFA. Furthermore, several teams are supposed to be targeting either LeBron AND Bosh (NY) or Bosh in particular (Detroit). Wouldn't Toronto do well to offload him while they have the chance, and before he gets to decide who he wants to go to so that they would be forced to sign-and-trade with teams with all the cards?
Two caveats:
1. would WE be able to keep him, if Toronto can't? (I say the chance of being on a dynasty would help.)
2. Would he mesh with our guys? (I say Brandon and Oden are also two very unselfish players who would accommodate him completely.)
Imagine a "big three" of Oden, Bosh and Roy. Huh, huh?
