PORTLAND, Ore. - The Boy Scouts of America has long kept an extensive archive of secret documents that chronicle the sexual abuse of young boys by Scout leaders over the years.

The "perversion files," a nickname the Boy Scouts are said to have used for the documents, have rarely been seen by the public, but that could all change in the coming weeks in an Oregon courtroom.

The lawyer for a man who was molested in the 1980s by a Scout leader has obtained about 1,000 Boy Scouts sex files and is expected to release some of them at a trial that began Wednesday.

Of course, the Boy Scouts of America are largely sponsored by religious organizations, including Catholic (and Mormon, Methodist, Lutheran, and Presbyterian) churches. It's not just a financial relationship, as the BSA bar homosexuals and atheists/agnostics. Their pledge includes "doing [one's] duty to God."

While I am not suggesting that pedophilia goes hand-in-hand (or hand-in-anything-else) with religion, I do find it ironic that religious organizations generally seek to bar homosexuals from mentoring/teaching children while religious organizations are continually rocked by pedophilia scandals.

There are a lot of pedophiles. Its society that tells us that it is wrong, but when it may in fact be "biologically" acceptable. Look at all the people getting caught from the Dateline NBC to the teachers to everyone.

Slippery slope is what it means. As society gets more "progressive" and accepting of these alternative lifestyles/sexual deviations, perhaps in 20 years, there may be movements for pedophillia rights.
