Brandon Roy (Doubtful for Friday)

It just sounds like exasperation to me.

Who cares if he sits out? it is better for his future and yours. You're not going any where this season, so let him get it 100%. If he doesn't play another game this year, so what?

Honestly? Because most of us would take a 7th or 8th play-off seed over the ass-end of the lotto. Dropping into the 11-14 range is a waste of time, and it is too late to tank into a really good pick.

he needs to stay positive..how does practice for 2(?) hours last night, participate in a workout before the game, then finally tweak his hammy in only 15 minutes.....doesnt make sense to me...fuggit

Note to journalists... don't make a big thing out of correcting an athlete on the date of something. You only sound like a jerkoff.

ya what a douchebag....especially with such a nice guy in such a bad place...regarding being down on himself...

Before pregame warmups, Blazers coach Nate McMillan said Roy wouldn't play, but would try to go Friday against Boston. But minutes before the game, it was announced that Roy felt good enough to go, and was inserted into the starting lineup.

"I talked to him before the game and I thought he needed a little push," McMillan said.

Red flag anyone?

Is Roy unhappy (with management) about the trade of Blake and TO?

This whole hamstring issue has me scratching my head a bit.... hmmmmm?

I think it's ridiculous that Roy is somehow manipulating this. Dude wants to play.

Well, if you wanted to make lemonade out of this lemon, this is Rudy's chance to shine. He stepped up tonight and had a nice game. Hopefully, Nate gives him a chance in the starting lineup. If he is as good as some of us hope, that should show within a few games.

Go Blazers

So what was the point of him starting tonight? Why didn't he just play for 5 min as a second unit and have him leave after that?

Roy's season in jeopardy?

From ESPN Insider this morning:

Brandon Roy has who has been hampered by a nagging strained right hamstring since Jan. 2. He acknowledged Tuesday night that he is concerned the rest of his season is in jeopardy.

"I ... turned to LaMarcus Aldridge (during the game) and he was like, 'So what do you do next?' Roy said. "I was like, 'I don't know. I don't know where to go.'"

Roy started last night, but played only 15 minutes.

"I don't regret playing," Roy said. "I didn't feel like this would be any different Friday. That's the reason I feel like things are in jeopardy."

"I'm frustrated," Roy added. "I can't say much more than that. If I'm thinking (about the injury) that much while I'm playing, then it's not worth being out there."

Re: Roy's season in jeopardy?

Like I've been saying all along. The dude hurt it last year (or previously), didn't heal at all over the summer (when he was playing NO basketball) and now aggravated it to the point where it's literally at its breaking point...

Surgery? is that even possible?

Re: Roy's season in jeopardy?

He is just frustrated, I am sure they will rest him for an even more extended period. He might miss the next month, but he will be back. It's not like he completely re-injured the thing last night, it is strained and it needs more time to heal. If you gave him six weeks to rest he would be back in time for about 12 games. There is no reason to think that in 4-6 weeks the hammy won't be ready to go. In addition all of the quotes above are from Brandon after a game that he tried to come back and it did not work out. The guy wants to play, but since he can't he is very frustrated. Put him on the shelf, keep rehabbing. We can play .500 ball without him, especially with Camby and a healthy Batum.

Plus we have a healthy lead in the win column over New Orleans, Houston, and Memphis. We even have two more wins over San Antonio who have a brutal stretch schedule. I also think that the Suns might trade Amare for cap relief which would mean they would most likely fade as well.

goddamnit.

Our medical staff is starting to show signs of incompetence.

Re: Roy's season in jeopardy?

I don't know if Roy is going to be the same, for the rest of the season. Seems doubtful to me. If after that, and all the other injuries the Blazers have endured, the team can still make the playoffs - and manage something better than losing in a first round sweep, I'd consider the season a success. All this talk of "doing damage" in the playoffs is a bunch of hot air without a healthy Brandon Roy, and at this point, that seems really unlikely.

Re: Roy's season in jeopardy?

Well, Rudy has claimed he's a starting PG. Now he can prove it.

Re: Roy's season in jeopardy?

all the more reason to have another all-star caliber player on this team, I think this may be par for the course with Roy...by that I mean nagging injuries...and if this team wants to be a true NBA title threat they need to be able to keep driving towards the playoffs even if he is out missing games....

god damn i love that avatar.

This reminds me of last year where Nate thought Greg was milking his knee injury - you know, the knee which they had to withdraw blood from because it had a crack in it.
It makes you wonder who is running the show... I was very concerned by Nate's encouragement of Pendergraph hitting Batum hard on screens Nic's first day back of full practice, as well. Sounds like three very bad judgment strikes against Nate in a short period of time, all very similar in nature. It's looking more and more like Nate is the center of the injury issues (I've long been critical of his conditioning test and how the people that perform worst on it seem to have the healthiest ensuing season), with the training staff either going along for the ride or not having the sense/pull to stand in his way.

As for Roy, I know it won't happen, but I would really like to see a detailed list of what treatments have been done on his hamstring and by whom.

So you don't think the Blazers are interested in having another all-star caliber player on the team? I'd suggest that they get 5 all stars. That would be much better to deal with injuries. But of course Nate is too stubborn to do that :devilwink:

Nah, that's kpee's fault. Though if KP pulled off 4 pritchslaps, then Nate would have the best 2nd unit ever.

Brandon Roy. Doubtful for rest of year. That is how this thread should have been titled.

UPDATE:

Roy saying "he will go hard Thurs practice & vs Boston"

was very active in practice, said he will play on Friday

Looks like he is getting over his depression, lets hope so.....
