It's moments such as that Game, that make me say retire his number. Yes Clyde Drexler is my favorite player of all-time, and the greatest Blazer ever IMO, but I've never seen more exciting moments in a Trail Blazer game than those Brandon Roy provided, hands down.

Can't wait till they hang #7 from the rafters.

Im still somewhat in denial about the whole Roy retiring thing but things like really make it hit home. I have no problems with retiring his number. I know some people disagree but its not really Roy's fault that we have retired so many other numbers. His impact on our team was so profound that it seems like an easy decision to me.

While I've mostly been against retiring Roy's number, this is exactly the piece that causes me to be on the fence. I can't say Roy would have retired as the greatest Blazer if he had stayed healthy. You don't get credit as the best ever when your career ends to abruptly, so early. All I can say is "What if?" But the impact that Roy had on re-engaging the city and bringing back the fans who lost interest.... that's something that cannot be measured. All I can say is that the intense atmosphere that existed in my childhood (the days of Drexler, Porter, Kersey, Williams, Robinson, Duck.....) feels like it's returned, and a key component to the Rip City Revival is Brandon Roy.

I couldnt agree more. Roy was the first time I really connected with a player since I was a kid as well with Drexler and Comp.
