Brandon Roy Will Not Return!

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Surprise surprise.....

Watch him sit out tomorrow.

The great disappearing act!

What happened to him?

This is just cruel, and mean, and it hurts, and it sucks.

I can't remember a more painful year, which is unbelievable considering we actually made the playoffs. Now it's almost a certainty that we end up playing LA in the 1st round and getting bounced quickly. How can a team that wins 48-50 games be such a heartbreaker? Injuries are part of the game, but this is just brutal.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont be a serious injury!!!!

How can it not be serious? This is a big a regular season game as it gets. We're fighting to NOT play these guys in the 1st round so that we actually have a chance of winning a series. And they are just going to sit him for a little bump? No way. This has to be a big deal for them to pull the plug. You're pretty much throwing away any chance you had of NOT finishing 8th.

the play it happened on didn't look that bad. Bad injuries have happened with less but hopefully it's just a tweak/strain.

STOMP

I am assuming that they are being very careful, but let's be honest if it happens to be bad it is just the way the cookie crumbles.

It's a big game, but having Roy available for the playoffs is bigger. I think they'd rather be careful and err on the side of over-cautious rather than risk losing him for the rest of the season in order to win this game.

Man that's hard to believe they were just being cautious. I didn't see us beating LA in LA w/o Roy. I'm flabbergasted. Truthfully, I didn't even watch the end. I turned the Masters on and just checked the score after it was over. I can't believe they won in LA w/o Roy.

i love the guy on the offensive end of the floor...it's nice he's from the northwest...but...dang is he soft.

Even if it isn't 'serious,' and as badly as I want to beat OKC, I think they should sit him until the playoffs.

The season that just keeps on giving.... :sigh:

Trail Blazers star Brandon Roy is scheduled for a magnetic resonance imaging on his right knee Sunday night, shortly after the team makes its 6:30 p.m. arrival from Los Angeles.

Roy injured his knee in the first quarter of Sunday's game at the Lakers while playing defense against Ron Artest. Roy said he tried to front Artest, and in the process of trying to establish position, Artest stepped on Roy's right foot. At the same time, Roy's momentum kept him going right, and with his foot planted by Artest's foot, his knee felt what Roy called a "sharp" pain.

Roy continued to play, but on his next shot attempt he said the knee felt like it was "buckling," so he asked to be taken out of the game. When he returned in the second quarter, there were more troubling signs.

"The second time I went in, I just couldn't make any moves on it,'' Roy said. "It didn't feel right. It didn't feel right at all.''

Roy will be examined by team doctor Don Roberts, during which an MRI will be performed. Team athletic trainer Jay Jensen said it is doubtful the team will be able to review the MRI results this evening.

The Blazers (49-31) are tied with San Antonio for seventh place and trail sixth-place Oklahoma City by a half-game as the Thunder prepare for tonight's game at Golden State. The Blazers play the Thunder Monday in the Rose Garden.

Whether Roy will play against Oklahoma City seems doubtful, but Jensen and Roy said it's premature to make any determinations.

"If we meet and there is nothing there, then I will have that confidence to go out there and keep trying to play on it,'' Roy said. "But if there is something there he can let me know what my options are.''

Roy had surgery on the same knee during his junior year of college at Washington, during which he said much of his meniscus was removed. This injury is on the lateral joint line of his knee - or on the outside of the knee toward the back.

After the game, he said he could touch the exact area and still feel pain.

Guess Rudy finally gets his wish for a starting spot.

Rudy is gonna be En Fuego against OKC!

THIS JUST IN, ROY SAYS:

"I'll be alright, and so will the Blazers"

"THE" Natural

Sorry for being sarcastic, but the OP's post was weak, just like my source :devilwink:

OP's post was mid-game, in regard to the game, not the season. Nothing weak about it.

...it's a good thing "THE" doesn't sit home for all the games, because he would be as volatile as the rest of ripcitytwo!

Didn't mean to mislead. Got a text at halftime from the PR staff reporting Brandon would not be back.
