Uhh this has been a 4 year investigation. Seems like the NBa should have tipped off the blazers at some point!?!?

I think that's the last thing they should do, because it might taint any kind of investigation.

And I don't think a background search or deep dive into his personal life would've exposed this any.
It doesn't feel like this is a "stupid Blazers" moment, thankfully. (not saying you're implying it is)

1. The DOJ doesn't really care about Chauncey. They care about getting the mafia. They will offer Chauncey a deal to testify against them. If he takes a deal, "I bet" he'll only serve about a year in prison.

2. If Chaucney pleads guilty or is found to be guilty, it means he used his fame as an NBA player to cheat people. He should be removed from the HOF.

It's now a race to see who will cooperate first. In any case, I would be surprised to see Billups escape prison time. He's the face of the investigation.

Well, I think I know what most of the topics will be on 105.1 today.

I guess we are getting a new coach.

Don't need to go back to Stotts, and don't need to hire the guy who runs his players into the ground and loses every team he coaches.

That's a recipe for disaster.

"The case involving Chauncey Billups involved high-stakes poker games that investigators alleged were rigged.

Billups was called a “face card,” a professional athlete who would sit alongside players and use their star power in order to distract them from the game.

“What the victims – the fish – didn’t know is that everybody else at the poker game, from the dealer to the players, including the face cards, were in on the scam,” said US Attorney Joe Nocella. “Once the game was underway, the defendants fleeced the victims out of tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars per game. The defendants used a variety of very sophisticated cheating technologies, some of which were provided by other defendants in exchange for a share of the profits from the scheme.

“For example, they used off-the-shelf shuffling machines that had been secretly altered in order to read the cards in the deck, predict which player at the table had the best poker hand, and relay that information to an off-site operator. The off-site operator sent the information via cellphone back to a co-conspirator at the table, and that person at the table was known as the quarterback.”

He added, “The quarterback then signaled secretly the information he had received from others to others at the table, and together, they use that information in order to win their games and to cheat the victims. Defendants used other cheating technologies such as poker chip tray analyzers, which is a poker chip tray that secretly reads cards using a hidden camera, special contact lenses or eyeglasses that could read pre-marked cards and an X-ray table that could read cards face down on the table.”"

Yep, he's done. Hope the Blazers press conference is soon. Again, hoping for Splitter, most likely Bjorkgren will be named as interim. Thought he did a good job filling in for Billups last year.

Would have fit in great in the jail Blazers era.

Kind of felt like the 90's again last night. Now the early oughts with this arrest stuff. Does that mean we are going to the WCF!!!
