My guess is for something like this he'll just have to turn himself in for arraignment and probably will be out on bond.

Will the Blazers continue to let him coach while out on bond? That would be a huge distraction for the team.

Don't really see how - this was not related to basketball. If he was part of the Rozier scheme, sure.
If you don't see how the franchise's head coach being in deep with the Sicilian mafia is a black eye for the organization, I don't know what to tell you...

I feel bad for his wife and daughters having to go through this and face their friends and neighbors.
Yeah, gotta be really tough for them. That really sucks.

By relieving him of his coaching duties.
They'll fire him today, promote the lead assistant as interim, and we all move on. This isn't a player - it's a coach who at least half the fanbase was mad that they extended during the offseason.

didn't turn on the internet till 9am...guess what was the lead headline just about everywhere. This is what I saw on the very first page I opened in my browser:

good morning!!

he needs to resign. If not, Cronin needs to take action....or Jody does

by the way, the article had this in it:

"The indictment of Rozier and others says there are nine unnamed co-conspirators, including a Florida resident who was an NBA player, an Oregon resident who was an NBA player from about 1997 to 2014 and an NBA coach since at least 2021, as well as a relative of Rozier".

so, what NBA player lives in Oregon who had a 16-17 year NBA career that started around 1997?

Can anyone give a quick tl;dr on what Chauncey did? Swamped today
He participated in a fixed poker hustle with 3 mafia families to fleece people out of their money by being the "famous" player at the table and having the cards read by cameras in the table and the card tray. Then they say he laundered his profits too. His career is over.

Is it possible he agreed to be a face card for pay, but wasn't aware of or involved with the other shit? Its not unusual for sting operations like this to throw out a wide sweeping net.

If I’m the Blazers here’s how I’d handle things. I bring in Billups and tell him we can’t let you continue being coach, we’d like you to resign and we’ll pay you a portion of your remaining contract (obviously much smaller amount). This immediately relieves the Blazers from being part of this circus that’s going to happen over the next year or longer.

Thanks. I assume this occurred before his time with the Blazers?
2019, though there is implications that there was some blazers related inside info (re: Injury/sit out) given to people and that information was beneficial to gamblers.

No matter how bad it looks, and it looks very bad, he still legally has presumption of innocence. So I think appropriate he be placed on immediate leave pending outcome.
No good time but obviously start of season very bad time. There aren't a lot of good coaches available. Presumably pick an assistant as interim.

They won't need to pay him a dime....he's breached his contract on the morals clause. The NBA has suspended him already.
