How does 4-6 weeks = missing the playoffs? Not a very optimistic statement by the Blazers! Have some faith we can win!

Coulda done this on Monday and gained about a week of rehab time. Still, I'm hopeful that he can come back in three weeks like he did in the past after having this surgery.

Good, they just invested 80 million dollars into him for the next 4 to 5 years, so I'm glad they are protecting their long term investment and not letting him pull a young Grant Hill.

If it's four to six weeks then it's definitely a partial tear rather than a meniscectomy. That's good news.

I change my series prediction to Suns in 6:(

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy(notes) will have surgery on his right knee on Friday and will miss the playoffs, the team announced.

ROY pussed out. Fire KP for letting him!

.....

Could be the best thing for the team. Now, there's no pressure. Everyone's going to write off the Blazers as having no chance without their best player
Public "the glass is only half-full because I drank half the kool aid" Defender

Actually you could very well be right. The Blazers play better team ball when Roy isn't there for everyone to stand around and watch.

It's really been an unbelievable year when it comes to injuries. Then to have the leader and all star of the etam go down right before the playoffs . . . it is almost surreal.
Almost??? It's definitely surreal. How many times in one season can a fan get his heart broken, that's what I want to know. God is testing us, is all I can think.

I would rather them NOT have invested that much money so soon. And I said so at the time.

Oh, well.

...and THAT's why it's a good idea to keep the lawyers arms length away from any important decision! :devilwink:

Repped. Well, tried to rep, but no one else here seems to reciprocate rep.

Is rep a comptetition as well? I notice that many posters never give rep, yet they gladly receive it. Not pointing out yuyuza1, of course.

They had a specialist on the BFT and he said he could actually cause more damage such as an ACL tear.

Well there you go.... glad to hear another opinion rather than what has been spread around the boards.

Rest up, Mr. Roy.

1st priority was to see if he felt he could help the team in the 1st round. They didn't even get the MRI fully read until Monday am right? so it's only like 4 days of delay...so it was probably worth it to see if he could go on it.

Does Roy play through the hammy without an extension? Did he hurt his knee while playing through the hammy?

I love armchair QBs. I threw 63 TDs last year for the Seahawks!

BTW I had the exact same thing that Roy had with his knee. Mine really wasn't painful I tried playing basketball and softball for almost 6 months. Several times I would try and make a sharp move or plant to hit or throw and my knee would just buckle. I finally settled on knee surgery. Roy may have wanted to play but he would have been a shell of his normal self.

Honestly if I thought we had any chance in hell of winning a championship I would have wanted him to give it a try but realitistically we don't so why risk it this year? Plus if we do somehow get to the WCF then he might be able to play which would give the team a huge boost.

If by some weird stroke of luck and good play we are able to make the WCF, imagine if we got Roy and Oden back.

I have a feeling Oden has had some setbacks in his rehab that haven't been released. Initial recovery time was 4 months, and it's over 4 month now, and he's not even beginning to get back on the court. He's at home in Indiana just resting.....

Yeah, he was going at the rehab really hard trying to get back, then when he got running on the anti-grav treadmill started swelling. I think that's when they hit the breaks and started slowing down the rehab.

ok my dad doesnt know much about sports but today when i was dropping him off at the airport he said roys injury might be career ending because hes had it MCL surgery too many times... did he just hear wrong or is that true?
