Re: Breaking News!

Thought it was a joke thread about some golfer, just from the headline.

I mean... good to read but certainly not a definitive source. I'm not freaking out about the lack of extension (and wouldnt do it until this time next year) but it would be nice to see him sign. Having said that, I don't think the organizers of the golf event have any more info than we do...

You have golf on the brain, I think. It was a basketball event.

Re: Breaking News!

Thanks for the link! Hopefully it gets done soon. Although I'm a little shocked that we'd first hear about it from the Seattle Times. Is the Portland media really this inept?

Not worth reporting something not done

Re: Breaking News!

man you know its tense when people are trying to call SlyPokerDog a troll

Re: Breaking News!

Alright Guys/Girls: bottom line is this is a great link, but when i see BREAKING NEWS, and open the thread and then see ROY SIGNS EXTENSION, you could see how this can be misconstrued

Re: Breaking News!

It's worth reporting if it's close to being done. Hell, just the fact he's in town at all to work on the extension is definitely worth reporting. Why are you so hellbent on discrediting the story?

Re: Breaking News!

How many stories did we have about Hedo?

Double Breaking News!

Roy picked up at airport with car playing Turkish Techno music!

Re: Breaking News!

it says Roy signing extension, which is what the link said (unless we spend another 10 pages debating completing and signing), not signed. And it is breaking news that Roy is down in Portland, and presumably finishing up his contract.

Re: Breaking News!

Note this comment on the story:

Brandon Roy was at the Adonai Hood Classic this evening. He didn't play, he sat on the Garfield bench for the entire game. Great to see so... Posted on August 2, 2009 at 10:50 PM by sasquatchlives

So, PapaG has him sighted in PDX on Saturday, but he's back in Seattle on Sunday. What could it mean? :devilwink:

Hedo's wife told Roy not to sign?

Re: Breaking News!

Thank you. That sig has always pissed me off. Like I'm supposed to give a shit that some random dude is willing to put me on an ignore list for an entirely arbitrary reason. Lame.

I don't think BengalDuck knows--he probably has you on his ignore list:ghoti:

I'm shocked you'd have to ask. The answer is, of course, yes.

Re: Breaking News!

I would think the way you complete a contract extension would be by signing it.

Or do you think Blazer management is going to jerk Roy around by bringing him down to Portland for nothing and have him miss a scheduled event?

Still, this is the most positive information I've heard concerning Roy's extension all summer.

Agreed . . . thanks for the info.

Re: Breaking News!

I don't have anyone in this thread on my ignore list. If you don't give a shit, why does it piss you off?

It's strictly saying that anyone who repeatedly quotes trolls when they respond will be ignored. Should you care? I don't think so... I'm not very important. But I'm doing my part to help curb trolling.

I wonder how many threads it would take before EVERYONE was on his ignore list? It's kind of like 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon -- I'm sure every one of us is quote-linked in some way to a troll...

:ohno:

Seems odd that the reporter wouldn't report him being at the game, and that Nate would say if Roy was here, as opposed to if Roy had played, implying he wasn't present at all.

Re: Breaking News!

I HATE it when people starts threads that end up being false! HATE IT!

If you read the comments at the end of the article you will find this...

Brandon Roy was at the Adonai Hood Classic this evening. He didn't play, he sat on the Garfield bench for the entire game. Great to see so much local talent, both games were standouts.

Was Roy there? Or not? The organizers say he was in Portland, as does Nate Robinson who is quoted in the article.

My sense from reading the article and then that comment was that he was in Portland on Saturday (the first day of the two day tournament) but made it back to Seattle by the Sunday evening Championship Game in time to watch it but not suit up.

That the coach of the Garfield team gave him DNP-CD? Or... that his car is able to traverse the 180 miles between Portland to Seattle in less than 12 hours?

Wouldn't the article have then mentioned him being in attendance, though? Seems if they were going to take the time to talk about him, they would have said he made it in time to watch, but not participate, or something.
