BREAKING NEWS: I WILL defy the doctors says Donald Trump claiming 'our people want to return to work' and 'seniors will be watched over' despite medical experts warning his back to business plan could kill MILLIONS
  • President Donald Trump said he can re-open the economy while protecting at-risk populations from the coronavirus
  • 'Our people want to return to work,' the president wrote on Twitter
  • 'They will practice Social Distancing and all else, and Seniors will be watched over protectively & lovingly. We can do two things together,' he added
  • Medical experts warned strict containment practices still needed
  • The World Health Organization warned the US could soon become the new coronavirus epicenter on Tuesday
  • Over the past 24 hours, 85 percent of new cases worldwide were from Europe and the US, WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris said
  • Asked whether US could become the new epicenter, Harris said: 'We are now seeing a very large acceleration in cases in the US. So it does have that potential'
  • 'They [the US] have a very large outbreak and an outbreak that is increasing in intensity,' she added
  • The US coronavirus death toll climbed to 586 on Monday as the total number of cases surpassed 46,400 and fifteen states went into various forms of lock-down

New York is the epicenter. More than half of all US cases are in New York State. If they were a country unto themselves, they'd only be behind China, Italy, Spain and Germany.

So you're saying we should sell NY back to the Native Americans?

I'm a guy that's all about "balance", it's how I live my life. I try to understand other people's perspectives. I try to balance how I spend my time, my priorities. I try to have balanced reactions to things and to stay calm too. This situation has been very odd for me. We've had a lot going on in our personal lives so my wife is stressed out anyways and the situation with what's going on at a macro level has her really stressed out. My calmness is finally starting to tip a bit the last few days and I'm trying to just adjust myself back finding the right place mentally.

Anyways I have made the point for a while that I believe we have to be careful as to how we respond to this situation. It's easy to say, "Shut everything down for a few months and then start over", but that could kill a lot of people too. Seniors not getting the care they require when caretakers don't show up, families losing their entire income, suicides, mental health taking an even sharper turn towards depression and loneliness for people. When supply chains break down, and stores stop being restocked. Then there is the other side this is obviously a pretty dangerous virus, it seems to spread like wild-fire and it can and in some places already has buckled health-services, it really seems disastrous for the high-risk people who get it (elderly - and those with respiratory/cardiac issues).

I honestly have no idea what the right balance to this is. I really believe at this point too drastic of measures in either direction could and probably will kill many people, it will be a defining moment in the history of the country. While people I'm sure will come to the defense of Trump, and many will say he's evil and all he cares about is the economy for his election, and there might be some truth to it. The way I see it at this point is this is almost a no-win situation for anyone, and yes it was a lack of foresight by Trump and the feds and even our states, but what they decide to do going forward will be very interesting and literally nothing they do or don't do is going to be without fault.

you should have balanced your post with a couple of paragraph breaks

just kidding TB

Trump is a fucking idiot. If his brain were made of cotton, he couldn't make a cotex for an ant.

A guy in Arizona died because of the medicine Trump told people to take in one his daily press conferences.

We're at the most critical juncture for the next 2-3 weeks in this battle with COVID-19 and Trump is going rogue against qualified medical experts' advice? I'm hoping that other people in his administration can talk him down off the "stupid" ledge or he's going to kill a whole bunch of people. Fortunately, most of the major population centers are under Dem control and they will likely ignore Trump's blather.

Suicide rate is going to go up the longer people aren't working. As is Domestic Violence.

He's on Fox News right now.

He's in rare form.

Trump says he never shook hands with people until he became a politician.

How far did they have to shove the microphone up his ass in order to be able to hear him?

You know I lean pretty conservative, but this asshat has to go.

He will go in November. Biden will beat him.

Because of Trump
No, because their brains malfunctioned. You don't have to be exceptionally intelligent to know not to self-medicate without talking to a doctor. You don't need to be clicking on cylinders to think well maybe fish tank cleaner and an actual real medication are different things too... I'm really not buying that it was because of, "Trump", Trump shouldn't have proclaimed what he did before the started doing larger-scale testing and all that. But say Trump's little miracle elixir of those drugs do work on COVID19 no one's going to get better by self-medicating on fish tank cleaner...

"Governor Cuomo could have ordered 16,000 ventilators in 2015 but instead he wanted death panels."

- Trump
