Can the Nets still buy out Hassel? How will buying him out affect the Nets payroll?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Josh_Boone @ Feb 17 2008, 07:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>So Kidd and Allen, and we keep wright?</div>

Kidd, Allen and Wright...Wright had to be thrown in to make the salaries work becuase of Hassels contract

if people want to criticize Thorn for blinking that's fine, but when getting 2 first rounders, some cap relief, and a PG for the future is on the line for a guy who you've been trying to trade for a year or so...well if he didn't make the trade I'd say he was too stubborn and got in the way of the last good opportunity to get value for Kidd.

well, let's just say one pick, because we're gonna give up one of those picks to memphis in the package for mike miller (I hope! )

kidd being interviewed on nbatv right now, just the usual all-star questions...but he looks REALLYYYY happy

I think Rod is gonna flip that 2010 pick into Mike Miller along with Mags and Boki

I really hope so. I'd love to see Harris kick it out to Miller at the 3 point line in the corner.

At least it's going to get done. That's all you can really say. It would suck if he was still here after all this after thursday.

That's the question. Will Hassell consent to a small buyout and then return to Dallas, even though Dallas presumably doesn't want him, indicating there was a wink wink deal that Dallas would do it? Also, will Wright still be part of the deal? Fragile as his confidence already was, I can't imagine he would be much use to the Nets the rest of this season.

who would have thought keith vannnnn horrrrnnnnn would have been one of the people getting kidd out of jersey!?

I'm glad the deal is going through. Things will be rough for a while, but the Nets still have a chance to make the playoffs, get Harris acclimated this season, make a decision about Marcus' future, and get Sean, Nenad, and Boone some more important big game experience.

No mention of that part of the deal in the article that is on espn now. They're just saying Harris, Diop, Ager, KVH, Hassell, 2 picks and $3 mil for Kidd and Allen.

I'd like to see the final complete deal to see how it affects the Nets' salary cap situation when compared to the initial version. Is it true that Van Horn's $4 mill salary will NOT be prorated? What will the affect be of that? Isn't that more than he needed to be paid for this to work? Unless . . . they are paying him more because he is to be sent to a THIRD team, like Memphis--(which might allow them to acquire Mike Miller without throwing a third player like Wright into the deal)?

Anyway, if there was a financial hit to the Nets to do it this way, you'd expect that Thorn would demand another pick as compensation, wouldn't you?

He's just screwing around.

David Aldridge just said...the deal was on life support, but had a very good chance of happening.

What the hell? Does he not know people on life support don't have a great chance at living?
