OT Brian Colangelo criticized NBA people on burner twitter accounts!

I can tell you they all have burner accounts. They’re not all this obvious though.

I know they all have burner accounts, but I’ll need more proof then what they have, it seems like all the “proof” I saw was pretty easily spoofable. Twitter is so easy to automate stuff on, I know there are several python wrappers and api’s for none developers.
I am not claiming he didn’t do all that was said, but I think we should get more facts before we say to much.

Fuck that everybody grab the pitchforks and torches and meet in the town square at sundown.

I remember the good old days when people were innocent until proven guilty, instead of guilty as soon as someone publicly accuses them of something.

Did you check out The Ringer's article that started all of this? I agree with you, but the degree of smoke implies a massive amount of fire either from Colangelo or someone incredibly close to him. Especially with respect to all 5 accounts getting put on private when only 2 were reported.

Here's the article (long but worth it): https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/...-twitter-joel-embiid-anonymous-markelle-fultz

I agree to some extent, but I still kind of believe I’d like to see a little bit more proof just because Twitter is so easy for anyone with half a brain with a desire too, to spoof stuff.
I think the way Embiid responded makes me more likely to believe it. Seems like he Embiid has his issues with Colangelo and was ready to pounce. I’m sure “the internet” will figure it out.

WOW.....as an old guy Ive never been on twitter or Facebook. The only reason I know how to use this computer (somewhat) is because my profession started to use e-mail and integrated inventory/business operations, programs.
I had an order entry/status gal that worked for me many years, and when we implemented email for short lines of communications only, (what a joke) she commented during that "now I don't have to talk with people (customers) on the phone anymore and be nice, I can now just shoot them a mean response if I'm in a bitchy mood". Needless to say she abused her knew found mask and was eventually let go.

I’m a millennial (technically), and I am a software dev, that spends a lot of time coding, and engineering “stuff”. However the “mask” that comes with social media is exactly right, and if I had to say what has caused so much of the crap in this country the last 10-15 years I would point at that. People get online find other bigots, racists (of all sides), extremists whatever and feel empowered now to go out and act on that crap. The sad part is so much of it is fake, yet so many people eat it up.

I think you are spot on!
Thanks for your honest take.....

I know that it’s dangerous to generalize problems like, “oh it’s all Facebooks fault”, or whatever, but I just believe (and I could be totally wrong), that there is a fake ness to the social media world that’s harmful. It gives extremists a platform to speak on, and it creates much more division than unity. Not that all technology is bad, I obviously like technology thus why I do what I do for a living.

I think it’s why the “divide” in America seems to grow exponentially year over year. We can each and every one of us no matter our world views go online find people who support us, who empower us to go do more, we can easily entrench ourselves in I’m right and everyone else is wrong.

Having discussions about important issues has become harder and harder.

It’s quite the time to be alive.

Also sorry I made this about social media instead of Colangelo, I got sidetracked.

Use facebook all the time. We have family all over the world and its the best way for us all to stay in touch and share things about the kids, etc. Started using Instagram as a way to show my kids what I was up to on the road while away from them. Now they are at the age where they don't care!!! Love taking pics though, so I'll keep doing it.
