Brian Roberts + Second round pick to PDX

I have a hard time imagining The Dread Pirate Roberts won't get more minutes than Frazier. First, unlike Frazier, he's a competent NBA backup. Second, I don't think Olshey wastes his time with that trade just for a 2021 second rounder. Roberts wasn't brought here to be glued to the bench.
OMG this post is clueless. Where does S2 get these guys? Hey, BBart, your crystal ball needs polished. Just say'in.

Was this a good move? Would we have been better off keeping Tim Frazier, at least as far as this year is concerned (especially because he was so popular in the lockerroom)? He's certainly done more for NO than Roberts has for us.

It was a good move. Frazier would not be playing that way for us because he would not be getting those minutes. Roberts is much better coming in for short minutes. He can come in and run the team well and shoot more consistently. I'm happy for Frazier, but he never could have done that for the Blazers.

Help me out here--did Tim Frazier have a second-round pick in his pocket that I was unaware of?

Or are you suggesting that we should have waived Frazier, traded for Varejao and a pick, waived Varejao, traded for Roberts and the pick, waived Roberts, and then somehow forced Frazier to re-sign here without permitting him the opportunity to look around the league to see if he could find a better situation in which he might get more playing time?

No offense, but I really hate this sort of thing. Frazier never got comfortable on the court here, and probably never would have. He's playing iu a freewheeling/nothing-to-lose situation and show that he can indeed play. Roberts fits our system great. I think we should re-sign Roberts.
