Thought this was worthy of a poll. He is playing great in preseason: 15 ppg, 5 apg, 1.5 spg, 100% from the three point line, and 84% from the FT line in 25 mpg. He knows Nate and Brandon. And consider this- when we won 13 games in a row in '07, he was the guy who played the bulk of the minutes at PG in the 4th quarter. Yes, Jack stepped out of bounds sometimes and yes, he handed that ball off to Iverson in that Denver game, but he has had two years to mature since then. I'm sure a Miller/Rudy for Jack/? deal could be worked out. Why not?

GOD we need another game........ NOW!

can't wait for Saturday's game... unless I can't get ride of this cold and get stuck at home, that would SUCK.

I voted yes. I loved J.Jack. He wasnt much of a shooter, but I loved his toughness, passion, and willingness to take it to the hole hard and get fouled. This squad needs a guy that gets fired up and gets emotional. He's improved since his days as a Blazer and would be a good role player starting PG which would fit this team IMO.

I liked JJ. He is a better PG than Bayless, even if he is not as explosive a scorer.

No, no, a thousand times no.

Doesn't anyone remember Jack's almost supernatural ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by commiting timely turnovers/bone head plays at exactly the wrong moment?

Portland let the dude walk for a reason. I hope Portland keeps it that way.

I didn't hate Jack like some, but you know that old saying, "You can never go home again?" I think that's what's going on here. For better or worse he needs the ball in his hands just like Roy does and even though he's upped his 3 point percentages and assist rate away from here, I don't think it would work out as well as it seems it might by just looking at him on paper.

To a point. Steve Nash did go "back home again" to PHX and did much better second time around, no?

I think Jack would still work very well here as a backup PG, less so as a starter, I assume.

How many hours til our next game!!!!????

When the rule is "never" it can. It does not make it common however ;)

I suppose I should just skip the literary references around here, people seem to think they are "literal" references instead.

This is the NBA, buddy, it's serious bidness, not a fairy tale!

Last time we tried the literary thing here Juliette (Rebeca) left Romeo (LMA) for the shiny lights of Voldemortville.

The next Chauncey Billups! ... no thanks. His infamous stepping out of bounds or screwing up fast breaks at the end of ballgames are not needed.

I like JJ. But I don't think he is needed. Call me crazy, but I have a good feeling about Armon Johnson. I think Bayless will get his chance this year. If he struggles then you will see Bayless, Wes, and even Rudy (if he sticks around) all get minutes at the back up PG. (along side Roy) And then next year it will be AJ's. I don't really know why I am exited about his potential, but there is just something about his demeanor on the court that I like.

That was three years ago. Has it ever occured to you that he's improved and doesn't make those make those mistakes anymore? Or I guess we should give up on Oden since he commits too many fouls. No room for improvement, right?

If Jack were on our roster, he'd make it a better team. I think that I'd rather, though, let Bayless get minutes at the backup PG spot... it'll make us stronger in the long run.

Am I the only one who chuckled here, knowing KS basically said that someone shouldn't base their opinion on how a player played 3 (or more) years ago, when that's 90%* of how he bases his opinions on players?

Such as...in this very thread?

He's probably matured a bit since we traded him. But does he make us that much better? I don't think so, when you've got Bayless, Matthews, Rudy, Roy and Andre here. He doesn't significantly improve our team enough to make him a target.

He looked great in the highlights I saw today against the Suns. He suddenly has court vision.
