Just a quick (Nic Cage Crazy-go-nuts) note: Hasheem Thabeet has a better Win Shares per 48 than Brook Lopez (0.086 vs 0.051).

Marc Stein: ONLY Nets can give Lopez five-year max. So Nets surely asking Brook to be patient & as reward promising Year 5 cash if Dwight trade unravels about 12 minutes ago

Brook Lopez is soft, can't rebound, has stone hands, and is a bit of a pussy. What are you guys doing? He's not worth the max.

As discussed above, I think they're just trying to force the issue, clear some teams out of the market, and kinda force the Howard situation. A few different teams are trying to acquire Howard, and several have been mentioned as facilitators, so I could see teams holding back through this process.

Frankly, people should be thanking the teams now offering deals to Lopez, as the Howard charade has gone on far too long. Anything that helps force the issue is commendable in my book.

Blazers know that NJ will match Lopez. Did you not see the acquisition of Joe J.?

Not sure why the Blazers would want to sabotage the Nets' play for Howard. If they sign Lopez to an offer sheet, the Nets would almost certainly match, which would effectively end their pursuit of Howard. That would seem to me to put the Lakers in the driver's seat on a trade for Howard. I'd rather have him in the East.

He may be all of that but he's still better than Oden.

I think our new GM is secretly working it so Howard ends up with the Clippers. :MARIS61:

Yeah, I kinda get it. But I kinda don't. I like it in everyway possible, other than it means LA would become the frontrunners for Howard, which means I don't like it at all in the end.

At least if we did decide to offer him a contract, we would actually have the money to offer him, unlike Minnesota's dumb ass GM

FUCK IT. Sign him to it. 20hours ago I had the realization we are likely into a long slow painful drawn out rebuild. Lopez isn’t a lock for a good max deal but I’d much rather have him than Batum at $12mil.

I agree Brooklyn matches but at least it prevents another superteam from forming. If Nets do get Dwight I think they clearly pass OKC as second best team in the league and a real shot at beating the Heat. I’m not concerned at all about Dwight going to LA, that Lakers team will have no draft picks and bunch of geezers a few years from now. They will be tough this year but we aren’t winning the title yet anyways.

Yeah, saw the JJ deal. I think the Nets are idiots for offering Lopez the max. He missed nearly all of last year and he wasn't great before that. That and Jeff Green are the worst contracts of the summer so far.

I say this not to bait because apparently only outsiders are welcome to do that, but if Batum signs for 11.25 or anything close to that, it will be the worst contract.

Yeah. Jeff Green's deal implies that Batum should be paid the max. Ridiculous deal. The guy is terribly overrated, and is one of those guys that gets his points, but I don't think he really helps his team win ball games. I have never been impressed with him.

jeff green has never had a ws/48 as high as batums lowest

greens ceiling is batum right now

I've never liked him either. Highly over-rated.

the fact that he has never played more than 30 mpg isnt a great selling point imo

I just said was that he's better at those things, which he obviously is. He's obviously not as good at playing more than 30 mpg though

Portland needs to go after ROBIN Lopez. That way Portland would atleast have a Batum & Robin combo.....

the funny thing about accumulating stats is that you actually have to be on the floor to do it

Well, Lopez has gotten worse at rebounding every year in the league, and only played in 5 games last year, so Hibbert beat him in that regard

like i said, devils advocate....man defense isnt measured particularly well as of yet

Y! Sources: Brooklyn raises guarantees on max offer to Brook Lopez, clock ticking on chance to do Howard deal.
