Brooklyn Nets Dame Trade Ideas and Rumors

Simmons might be an awful contract but, the way I view it, we tank next year, so who cares if he plays or not. Maybe he figures stuff out with no pressure up here? If so, great! If not, he's a huge expiring going in to sharpes 3rd season. If sharpe is who some of us think, then year 3 could show a huge leap, where we try to "contend" earlier than thought, and we have a huge expiring, some young pieces hopefully, and draft capital to throw at the next star

I actually think this one is pretty good:

Edited to use the cool trade machine :)

Simmons is, of course, a negative, but his contract only has two more years and there is still a chance he bounces back and is someone we could move down the line (or, heaven forbid, he's back where he was and the Blazers are in amazing shape).
I'd be fine with that. I don't see it happening, though.

The deal being talked about with Brooklyn, Miami and us is

Dame and Nurk to Miami
Herro and Lowry to Brooklyn, Picks
Simmons, Claxton, Finney-Smith, Jovic, picks to Portland

Heat get Dame
Nets get Herro and rid of Simmons
Portland gets young bigs and picks

I still think Miami doesn't give up NEARLY enough in that scenario.

I demand this from Miami. It doesn't work on the machine because of Jaquez. I still don't know why Brooklyn would do this.

Id generally be fine with this. What picks are we talking about here?

***edit***
Not that I care, but I dont see what's in it for Brooklyn. They are left without a decent C

Depends on the amount of picks. Simmons is an anchor that offsets the young talent of Clax.

Talked about by Miami fans only, I can only assume.

With Miami's "fuck you" move of signing Jacquez so he can't be traded, I would absolutely refuse any trade that doesn't include him.

Nurkic fits their TPE
Lillard = Simmons (or Dinwiddie + filler) + Claxton
Grant S&T = CamJohnson S&T ... if both are up for it, otherwise not
Add picks
Call NBA headquarters

NETS: Lillard + Nurkic (+Grant)
BLAZERS: Simmons 2 years + Claxton (+CamJohnson) + picks + $16.875 TPE

seems like it would make a lot more sense to ship Nurkic to Nets if they are losing Claxton

and I sure as hell don't want Portland eating the contract of DFS. He's not a good basketball player. I would hope he's deleted from that trade

Simmons has major physical and psychological issues., but Portland is a team that can afford to gamble on him, and the positive value would be the picks/Claxton. Worst case scenario is that his contract is like the expiring throw away contact that are often included in deals like this. Only there's a chance it turns into a home run.

What is the attraction for DFS? his contract sucks ass and as a player, he sucks too

Right now, what I want from Miami:
2028 and 2030 unprotected 1sts, Jovic, Jaquez, and Lowry’s contract for Dame and Nurk.

What I want from Brooklyn:
2027 and 2029 PHX 1sts, 2027 PHI 1st, Whitehead, Clowney, Ben, Dinwiddie and O’Neal’s expiring for Herro, Jaquez, and Lowry’s contract.

If Dame out = 5 1sts, 2 rookies, and around $30m off the books, I’ll take it. That puts us in a position to:

1. Get a good lotto pick
2. Gain more salary flexibility

We should aim for one or two under 25 y/o with high upside on a team friendly contract plus four to five unprotected first round picks.

Yeah this is certainly not a smash accept for me without knowing which picks, how many of them and what their protections are (ie. if either team are trying to add more protections to them).

DFS is crap; Simmons -- while tempting as a reclamation project should be treated as a negative asset, and the Heat are keeping Martin and Jacquez... I'd hope Joe would demand more, but with the right picks it's at least in the ballpark of interesting...

Always cracks me up when people think 1st rounders from great teams are a haul. We want unprotected picks from crappy teams.
Good teams that are old (like Phoenix) makes their picks potentially AMAZING in four or five years because they'll be crappy when we have their draft pick(s).

So the Nets have zero interest in Dame? If they had any whatsoever, why would they try to help Miami?
The logic, I think, is that the Nets have been burned a couple of times (Pierce and Garnett and then Harden/Kyrie/Durant) with going after quick fixes with veterans.

I'm not sure I buy that, though. Assuming they see Bridges as their current franchise guy, and that he likes Dame as much as Dame likes him, it seems like there could be some pressure there (Bridges is also almost 27, so the timeline with the two of them isn't crazy). Additionally, the Knicks are pretty good... and I gotta think the Nets want to be THE team in New York. Dame would become the best player in the biggest city, and that's gotta give them incentive to mortgage some of their future to get him.

a minimum requirement from Miami--->Portland HAS to be Jovic + Caleb Martin + 2028 first + 2030 first + 2029 swap. If Miami doesn't send all that to Portland, they can get fucked

I'd demand Jaquez too, just to fuck over Riley after his underhanded move, but I don't think he's that good and I don't want this to drag out that long

We wanna start a Miami thread?

Not to be snarky, but it seems like that's a pretty good conversation to be had and I don't want to derail this (which is focused on Nets news and rumors).

I know most hate him now, but Cronin embodying some of that Masai Ujiri big-ball energy would be a great development...

Impossible to know that for sure. Things can change in a hurry.

Maybe Brooklyn doesn't want Dame. But it's weird that they seemed so completely against trading Bridges.

This is what I'd want if it's just Brooklyn.

Scoot/Dinwiddie (I'd be looking to trade Dinwiddie)
Sharpe/Simons
Simmons/Thybulle/Nas/Rupert/Whitehead
Grant/Murray/Walker/Clowney
Claxton/Badji

This would be amazing. I love Claxton and Clowney as potential PF & C of the future.

Without a 3rd team, I don't think Miami is viable. Like, in any permutation. So... maybe? No?

sorry...was piggybacking on some miami posts

Agreed. Cut DFS from inclusion, get Whitehead or Clowney. 2 picks each from Miami and Brooklyn.

I like the security of having Ayton locked up for the next three years when faced with the possibility that Claxton could be a rental.

It doesn't seem like Brooklyn would even be excited to go after Dame. Not sure.
