Nice article from the Portland Tribune.

“Our goal is to get better, get back to the playoffs and do what we can to redeem ourselves for losing in the first round last season.”

Roy speaks about his reason for declining to go to USA camp.

Roy passed on a chance to work out with the U.S. national team at Las Vegas in July to rest his body. Nothing against his country – Roy’s priority is elsewhere.

“This summer was an important one for me to take some time to get healthy,” he says. “As much as I would love to play for the USA, I want to make sure I’m healthy to start the season for the Trail Blazers, for the fans, for management and for my teammates. I owe it to them, that I’m the best I can be.

“Maybe in the future, it’ll work out so I can play for the national team or the Olympic team, but I haven’t given them an answer, and I don’t want them to hold that spot for me. My first obligation is to the Blazers.”

He bought a house near the PF and plans to live in PDX full-time now.

Roy also says Miller is gonna come into the workouts on the 14th or 15th. Training camp begins on the 29th.

I'M MORE PUMPED THEN HE IS! I think it's cool that he has spoke to Andre already.

Proof is in the pudding, I suspect - but if he never felt 100% good last year and had the year he had - the rest of the league should be afraid, very afraid...

Love this quote from B:

Roy did lots of biking and swimming this summer, little running and played zero basketball, all intended to take away from the pounding on his joints.

“Once the season starts, the adrenaline kicks in and I don’t think about the body anymore,” says Roy, who turned 25 in July. “Then it’s, ‘Give me some ice, and when’s the next game?’

He hasn't. I think you misread it:

Roy hasn’t spoken with point guard Andre Miller, Portland’s major free-agent acquisition of the summer.
“He’s going to come in around Sept. 14 or 15 and start working out,” Roy says. “He’ll fit in great. He’s something we’ve been missing a little bit – that veteran player who has been in playoff situations and can help lead guys. Not only can he make me a better player, but he can also make our big men better.

Well then, I think it's cool that he hasn't talked to him.

Paging Papa G... Papa G, white courtesy phone... Papa G, white courtesy phone... :devilwink:

I'd go the other way, and say that Andre read the scathing critiques of his winning as many playoff series as Blake and vowed to be in 2 weeks early. Win: PapaG.

Speaking of being pumped, anyone know if Blake's still doing the MMA training he started last summer?

Maybe Papa is playing D&D with Miller in his basement! Don't be jealous Brian.

I suppose that means that Papa G is in fact Roy. That's the only way I could accept Papa G influencing the Blazers in any tangible way. :devilwink:

Great read! How can you not love B.Roy? The guy is amazing, on and off the court.

:biglaugh: I'm sorry PapaG this made me lol. Nothing personal.

PapaG ;)

He's pumped. Great. Where is the Aldridge contract so there are no distractions during the season?

I said I hoped Miller would come in a few weeks early, but that I wouldn't judge him if he did not. Sounds like he now is going to do so. I'll accept my props anytime you guys feel like it! :dunno:

I'll give you the greatest compliment you can receive from me: a combination rep/ignore. It's a complicated maneuver, but after you shenanigans yesterday, I'd like sanity to make a comeback in my life.

Shenanigans? Sounds like more people should read what I post!

Dude I try, but you make my head hurt with the bottom-up low-level detail arguments over things that make no sense to me. You're either really bad at making a coherent argument, or you're changing your argument over the course of a thread so you're never in a position to be wrong.

And here's the ignore.

Oof. The announced ignore more than offsets any rep received. Such a cruel blow, right to the gut. :sigh:

Yeah, correlation versus causation is heady stuff. :devilwink:

Look who's out of bed! Did staying up til ten for the Matlock/Golden Girls marathon wipe you out?

Wow, sometimes you can just get piled on around here lol. The Rooney thing made me LOL. You all are harsh :)

I have to admit, it surprised me coming from ABM. At least he managed to post it in the proper forum, however. Carte blanche personal attacks that have nothing to do with the thread at hand seem to now be allowed if directed at certain posters.

I thought HCP's posts about me were also bush league and had nothing to do with the thread, but whatever.

I'm sneaky that way. :pimp:

All in fun, though, PapaG. All in fun.

C'Mon! I'm the MVP of The Bush League!
