Bumping of old threads

I find that the bumping of old threads is a nice and at times a fun feature of this forum. I have belonged to other forums in that, *cough cough Oregonlive* that would delete old threads and posts. I noticed that this allowed people to be... not so honest in their takes and opinions. It allowed people to post an opinion and then a few weeks later post something entirely opposite while claiming they never posted their original statement. I don't get that "always right" type of person but that is more of a pet peeve.

Also old threads are a fun way to look back at the history of a team that most of us dearly love. The links to articles, thoughts and opinions people post can be enjoyable.

Now I was away at the beach for a few days with family. We were remembering my stepdaughter's son who passed away a year ago yesterday. While I did see all of your PM's, some were just fucking rude and hateful, I just wasn't in the mood to answer them are get into the middle of this thread bumping drama.

So... let's try to jump into it now.

I see nothing wrong with bumping old threads. I'm going to ask staff when we see an old thread that has been bumped to add the Zombie Thread tag to it so it's clear to people that it is an old thread.

I'm also going to ask that when people make a new thread they don't use the Zombie Thread tag. I think you can all figure out why.

There does seem to be a very recent problem with bumping of old threads just to troll people. I'm also just going to ask staff that when they see that happening to delete the post(s) that bumped the thread. No new post means the thread will no longer be bumped.

Until this drama eventually calms down I going to ask everyone to stop troll bumping old threads.

Also, if you are going to bump an old thread for the purpose of discussing what was in that thread then say that. Give a clear reason why you're bumping it.

These aren't rules, just requests. I find that this wonderful community works best with fewer rules. Just try to be courteous to each other.

I don't know where this whole "Zomg we already talked about it in this thread that is 50 pages long" mentality came from. Seriously. Who tf cares.

Sure it may be annoying because you have to click in another thread. But you know what else is annoying? Having to read every god damn post in some thread that had hundreds of posts just to find the news that could have easily been it's own thread.

Same thing applies to zombie threads. Whoooooooo cares. You can't control every god damn person you meet in your life.

There was one tonight that was pretty obvious. I get that it was done in fun but considering how upset some are in here it was best to send it back to the depths of forum hell.
 
Is it possible to create an archived section and move threads there after a while (save for bump worthy ones like the Melo thread, Love thread, etc)?

Its not even about that, its about relevant threads that people try and keep track of getting buried beneath a bunch of random stuff from a decade ago, and then people have to sort through the mess.

Stop argueing with yourself.
Melo & Love threads are not relevant or bump worthy. They are garbage and a waste of time to read. Unless your goal is to destroy the Blazers.

First off, life can suck and I'm sorry. I spent the 4th drinking, and also tossing some human ashes into the ocean.

Secondly, people PMed you about Zombie Threads?!? (And not the Name this Movie Threads?!? wtf.) You dorks need to leave a dog alone.

Thirdly, and lastly, as I've PMed you in the past (That's right! You can PM nice shit too, jerks!), I think you do a swell job juggling this dramatic hellhole of fandom personalities. Go Blazers!
 
1. Now I know what the zombie tag is for.
2. Was unaware of nuclear meltdown over bumping of threads. This is the difference between Portland in the summer and Beautiful Central Oregon in the summer.
3. By sheer coincidence I bumped a u thread, but it appears all was done according to the previously unknown guidelines.
