[Blazers start play at 9:40 and win out]

Sharpe definitely not looking Sharp. Everybody afraid to challenge Clingan. Banton ballhogging (as usual). Murray quietly doing the little things (as usual).

There weren't too many guys out there, Banton's size, running and gunning like him. His size, ball handling and shooting can be a factor.

That was the best video I've watched in a month.

Expert David Thorpe said that Scooter looked bad this summer in a game. Everyone thought he meant in a mere workout or pickup game, so I introduced them to open runs and private runs.

To see examples of such events, type "open run nba" into a search engine. They aren't open to the media, so are unreported and unknown to us here. This open run was like a mini-NBA Summer League. I read the comments:

Blazervision watched the podcast and says about Thorpe:
He describes the contextual setting over a 3-day span in L.A. watching these "Pro runs" as follows..."Lets say there's 12 sessions of games, 6 games each day on 3 different courts"

Svinyard comments that Henry Abbott says about fellow TrueHooper David Thorpe:
There were a couple of runs in Los Angeles that were thick with NBA players--if I recall correctly, one at UCLA and I think the other may have been at Loyola Marymount. David attended to watch clients play, and one of the teams competing was a form of the Blazers with Scoot, Donovan Clingan, and other young players.

The shots at 3:17 and 15:10 are so smooth.
Layup at 11:45 was a nice move.

His D is less than ideal... but it's also a pickup game.

Side note -> Clingan was frequently in no-mans land on D. He may have a tough adjustment to the league.
So summer league doesn’t matter, but random gym runs do? Interesting angle

ROOT wouldn't broadcast some of the summer league games. We were in the dark unless someone pirated a cheater-head stream.

bootleg pickup games on YouTube are infinite percentage better then Root Sports blackouts.

No disrespect but EVERY SINGLE one of your takes regarding the Blazers and ROOT have been wrong. Literally EVERY SINGLE one.

The biggest, dorkiest guy in a pickup game with literally no structure and Banton as the "PG". I'm not too worried.

Never can take anything away from pickup runs, good or bad.

sooo it was my imagination that Summer League games weren't being televised ?? Are we to keep blaming Comcast to appease whatever spin cycle Root relayed to Blazer fans ??

It's over now, Jody canceled Root. It was the worst NBA broadcasting deal in the NBA. People were turning on NBA League Pass to watch Portland, only to get a Root restrictions blackout signal.

Where am i wrong ?? For instance, I turned on MLB Network to watch Mariners & Rangers just 3 days ago. Guess what was on my TV ??

"We're sorry, but due to broadcasting restrictions, this game cannot be shown on MLB Network. We apologize for this inconvenience."

It was 2 1/2 hours of a screen saver with this message on a floaty flag.

I don't know. Root freaking sucked. So while the details may be wrong, the sentiment feels right to me... Lol

Clingan looked like someone with soft hands in the paint, but out of position a bit (albeit, it's not exactly a structured game) and he's going to have to work on his conditioning.

Not saying he needs to be ready to play 40 minutes a night on day 1 of training camp, but he looks more like a guy who you can't rely on for big minutes for a while. It's a good thing they have DeAndre.

Every market has home games blacked out on league pass, that wasn't a "Root" restrictions thing, that was a league thing.

Had nothing to do with ROOT. Everytime this dude blames the Blazers it was actually ROOTs fault. Everytime he blames ROOT, it’s actually on the league or team’s fault. EVERYTIME he throws blame somewhere it’s at the wrong target EVERYTIME!
You gotta do your homework if you are going to blame people for shit is what I’m saying.

I hear you. The picture and availability sucked on Root. I blame the Blazers for signing that horrendous contract without stipulations for streaming and video quality.

I'm glad they got out of it and I hope they do better on this next one. I expect they will.

So who are the players in the video? I noticed Sharpe, Banton, and Murray.
Were you guys trying to be funny about Clingan or did I miss part of the video?

9:40: Clingan, Banton, Sharpe, Murray and ? short guard with white shirt and white striped shorts
13:38: Rupert and McGowan join Clingan, Banton and Sharpe (playing Wall, Rivers and Looney)
16:17: As above except Murray replaces Clingan.
