Bursting the Bazemore Bubble

This is exactly what i'm talking about.
First you say some silly novice minded crap.
Then someone calls you on it and like usual we try to reason with you.
But then of course you can't handle the truth and because it's multiple people calling you on it so you have to muddy the waters.
Then you change it up and bring in your stand by Hoops and hope maybe another will jump in by your side.
But this time i ain't buying it. And neither is anyone else.
You realize this whole thing was a big misunderstanding of context and I took blame in causing it (something you've never done)? I don't need others to stand with me. I simply brought them in because I was pretty sure they'd agree with me in regards to the way I was interpreting the phrase "setting a screen" (just being the technique alone). Guess what, in terms of the disagreement, I actually agree with the people I was arguing with, we just misunderstood each others context.

If you want to say reaction was too strong, or the "smh" was disrespectful, fine. As you would say, "I'll hurt your feelings kid"...? To me it's lingo and banter but apparently I need to change that for some in here that don't see it as such (even though I've done so for stretches in the past and it didn't improve a thing with some of yall).

You say some disrespectful things as well so don't act like you're above it.

What are you supposed to call people who start hate threads, are almost universally panned, then 10 pages later STILL
has no further comment in the thread.

Fucktards? Jackasses? Assholes? What's your term for it?

I've seen posts in the thread that disagree with the OP without insulting him. People are going to make threads hating on players. If it's a gimmick account and that's all that they do then they will be removed. But members venting and complaining about players is very common.

lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about a particular thing.
"they were ignorant of astronomy"

How is that an insult?

You could use that logic to excuse saying "they were stupid in regards to astronomy" as well.

Then all of a sudden insults are acceptable if they're specified on a situational basis.

Do dogs count as “someone”?

Asking for a friend.

Hmmm isnt that subjective to the recipient though?
So, because the speaker is ignorant as to how the recipient will view the word, which is simply the same as the sentence, without having to type the sentence out, the speaker must then assume the recipient will not comprehend the word, as meaning as such?

Why is a word created to provide meaning to a sentence an insult? This does not equate.

You are smart enough to find away to disagree with someone's opinion than calling them names.

Mainly we just don't need two people going at each other and derailing the thread, which has happened here. Then we get others sitting on the sideline who suddenly want to jump in and give their opinion on one or both people that leads to even a bigger shit show. Which also happened in this thread.

"He called me ignorant, that's insulting, you did nothing about it, so I'm going to call him a bitch." I've seen this rodeo before. Why not just avoid it? You of all people don't seem to have any trouble expressing yourself without insults. How about we just attack the post and not the poster.

But that's not what you said or how you used it.

You said, " Hahaha you are so clueless." and then you said he was ignorant. That's personal. You didn't say he was ignorant about astronomy or setting screens. You said he was, not what he was posting about.

Attack the post, not the poster.

Yeah, I know. I agree with all of that. My whole viewpoint during this whole discussion is the technique of setting a good and strong screen at the point of contact. That was it. Obviously I should've specified that better, so my apologies.
Glad i kept reading. Good on ya.

Exactly. So when one person tells another person half their age, they are ignorant or clueless about a topic the elder has experience in, its nOt an insult. Its just a fact.
I don't know if you are being serious. I don't like this trying to say young people don't have the right to speak up strongly, or because of age a person's opinion should not be taken as seriously. Who has gotten us into almost every stupid war; a bunch of old farts, right?

Listen man, i was obviously wrong in thinking you would understand what i meant with ignorant. You are insulted. I apologize. Wasn't my intent. I only meant to condense the fact that myself and many others here have been around the block and witnessed or had direct interactions with many different people while in the midst of attempting to learn something new.

This experience factually outweighs any type of knowledge you could have gained in your years and experiences in life.

I chose not to type all that out and used the word ignorant. Because i thought you
would connect the dots and understand the meaning/intent of the word.

I was wrong. I apologize....

OB isn't old, he's bald.

serious, but poorly worded and taken out of context.
Of course it isnt always the case, but to discount experience, “in the field” work, if you will is not wise in my opinion. Most people actually learn from mistakes. Often thinking they have an answer, only to find that they had to make a change or made a mistake and go back to the drawing board before they get it right. Its very rare for someone have an initial thought and have it prevail through tests without modification.

This os experience youth is factually unable to have more of than elders. So when it comes to an nba coach with tenure and several stops in his career to make mistakes and learn from them vs a 20 year old college player, ill side on the coach.

Yes there are the prodigies that get the game from the get go, but extremely rare.

So as in most things in life and the work place, experience is a valuable component.

I think the respect for this is continually being minimalized in our world and i don't see it as a good thing.

Perfectly right to speak up but also no need to dismiss and mock elders opinions.

I know what ignorant means. It was just frustrating because I actually agreed with you for the most part yet it was a misunderstanding so I was being called all that. It didn't even come down to experience vs. lack of experience or anything like that, it was just a misunderstanding over what we were actually discussing.

When I talk about my experience with basketball, I try to only bring it up to say "I know what I'm talking about"... Not to try to discredit someone else as if they don't know what they're talking about. That was my issue with that.

I'll try to stop using "smh" or other text lingo because to me, it's just banter. But I understand how it can be considered condescending towards others.

Because when you inherently believe it isn't an insult, its harder to remember that others do i guess.

Same for me in regards to "smh" and "lmao" being considered condescending or disrespectful.
