Oh Panzer, I feel bad for you buddy. If you think I need some article to back up MY OPINION that we should deal DZ for a scoring winger, you have some serious issues. It is a report I saw. Maybe he has sources...maybe he is full of sh*t...who knows. But I do not need some article to back up MY OPINION that we should deal DZ for a scorer. It is the same opinion I have had for nearly 3 years, so some random article won't change that in anyway.

And we are on the same page. I would deal him for that scorer, and no way would I re-sign him this summer (I will risk that he gets much better and burns us down the road). You would not deal him, and would re-sign him for 3 or 4 years at 3 or 4 mill per. That is cool. We agree to disagree on that.

And BTW dump, who is saying MDZ has no value? I think he does have decent value, and would only deal him if we can get a legit 20 or so goal scoring winger. That is it. I would never just give him away to get rid of him...no way at all.

what MdZ needs more than anything is for somebody to pop him in the puss. The man is afraid to hit or give a hit. until he takes this emotional step in his development, he will never be Stanley cup material. The Stanley Cup Finals is a war of attrition, it takes a total physical commitment by all members of the team. MDZ is showing no signs of having that in his DNA. You don't go to war with the current MDZ. ONce he relisizes he can get into a scrum or jump in for a teammate, and survive, he will have turned a corner.

If they do deal him though they need to get a dman back in the deal or in another at the same time. I don't think Allen is quite ready and Falk stinks.

Every year is the same with you Chuck. You find one guy to bitch about and you don't shut up on him all year. If they trade MDZ, you will immediately find another guy to bitch about the rest of the year. It's what gets you thru the season.

That is the best comment I have seen in my life...you are so dumb it hurts man. YOUR NAME IS DUMPPYATT. IT WAS DUMPAVERY. IT WAS DUMPTORTS. IT WAS DUMPBOYLE. ON AND ON.

My lord you are an idiot sometimes dump...LOL.

Bottom line...the rangers have a surplus of young dmen. Naturally you try and use that surplus to fill holes.

Mdz has had one terrific month. He has regressed from the (december or nov). He did have a horrible post seaskn.

His contract is up and will seek a raise. Where is he going? Is he going to over take mac? Staal? Girarid (perhaps) moore (overall game I think moore is better) so he is 3rd best dman. I wouldnt sign him to 4k. His shot is horrible. His true asset is puck handling. His defense is below average. Yes on a bad team he can easily be a top 4 guy. I don't want the rangers to be that bad team. Send him packing for help up front.

People continue to think MDZ is a problem and he's not. The problem is what Rick Nash will be going forward. That is the problem.

I agree with Dump that we should be more concerned with Nash than MDZ. I am done obsessing over MDZ. He is what he is. Young d-men with a potential who still makes plenty of mistakes and not as good as we thought he would become. This happens to a lot of teams in this league.

If the Rangers are desperate, that would make half the teams in the NHL are more desperate!
Not taking into account that teams go through injuries which undoubtedly affect team standings, etc......
It's just another stab at Glen Sather. I may have my qualms with Mr.Sather, but media can be a
lynching mob. They are stirring with the wrong team. LOL

Apparently there's some discussions going with Colorado recently. I'd go with something like McGinn and Sarich for DZ, Pyatt, midpick or something. McGinn could be a 20g player as time goes on and Sarich could at least fill in for the rest of the year.

I think we'll deal MDZ this season. I don't think Sather wants to give him that extension this summer, so it kind of has to happen IMO.

If the value's not there in a trade for MDZ, keep him and take the risk that he figures it out.

Yes, goes without saying. I am working under the assumption that his value is still solid. If not do not deal him for pennies on the dollar. We all agree on that.

haha, ehhh, not fully because i am on board with resigning him long term while Chuck would have another coronary if he's back next year.

Yeah, we disagree strongly there. No way would I re-sign him for 3 or 4 years at 3 or 4 mill per. So we are back to normal and disagree.

I am also not sure why we would want to re-sign him given the dmen we have ready to come up in the near future AND the fact that his play really hasn't improved that much since his rookie season. Plus the fact that he could help us obtain the solid winger scorer we need badly. But that is a conversation for another time.

That would simply be cap death signing him to a long-term deal, we already have enough on the plate with the evolving Nash situation. The most I would even consider with DZ is a two-year deal, IF he has a decent rest of the season. Either way they should be looking to move him for a forward or pp dman.

Lost in all the MDZ trade talk is that Girardi and Stralman are UFA next year so Stralman is probably gone but what kind of money does Girardi get if he decides to stay in NY? McD makes $4.3, $4.5 and $5 mil in the coming years while Staal has one more year after this making $5.45 mil. Can the Rangers afford Girardi who is great on defense but offers little to no offensive contribution? Falk and Moore are UFA's along with MDZ next year as well. Do we have 3-4 young defensemen in the farms to fill potential gaps? All reasons why I don't think Glen moves MDZ unless it's a no brainer trade.

I would let Girardi walk and aim at re-signing Stralman and Moore(RFA not UFA). Sign a FA PP guy and see if McIlrath or Allen are ready for another spot. DZ is the wildcard in all of it, but I'd shop him for help this year.

Just some things on my mind

Yakupov has a total 1G 2A and -11......at 20 years of age, he belongs in the AHL,,,,not the NHL.
Don't want him on the Rangers.

If Sather is too itchy, I'd rather see a trade with Colorado.

Now that Messier is not on the Ranger payroll, I find it curious he's now with Edmonton....
he if anyone knows what Sather is thinking....he does.

The Rangers have depth on the blueline. No way. One injury or misdirected trade and this
crew is behind the 8 ball. They will never have enough D-men. Stu Bickel anyone?

Wrong. The Rangers have Allen who can play in the NHL right now. They also have McIlrath who from all reports is starting to play great down there with his veteran defense partner. This team is not going to be able to advance without Rick Nash. If the Rangers are looking for offense, that tells you they are not confident about Nash coming back and being able to stay healthy.

The problem with nash if he comes back with his concussion history is the rangers are going to need a wing that can ride shotgun with him and beat the crap out of anybody that goes near him to stop the nash cheap shots. The problem is we don't currently have that type of player on the roster

You don't need a forward to do that. You just need a player on the team who can do that. That is the role they hope McIlrath will fill.
