Bye, bye, Andre Miller

PapaG believes Andre Miller injured Roy, making this team worse. I don't blame him for disliking Roy. If I believed that, too, I'd also dislike Miller.

Yeah, and Andre Miller attacked Pearl Harbor back in 1941, he shot JFK, and he crashed the planes into the World Trade Center. He's a regular super terrorist, but he's pretty darn good at passing a basketball so I'm willing to overlook his faults.

I haven't bothered to read the last couple pages of this thread but am wondering why you guys would bother arguing with PapaG? Picking pointless & endless fights on internet forums appears to be his hobby. You're just wasting keystrokes. You'd have better luck using your time petitioning to get DJ MixedUp banned from here (which won't ever happen either).

You can't say the same thing when it comes to Roy, can you?

Roy is a bad person. He spoke the truth and that's unacceptable. Miller did the same exact thing but it doesn't matter. Roy is still a bad person.

Roy is the undisputed leader of the team, our All-Star, and in his first year of a five year, 80+ million dollar contract, so yes.... I hold him to a higher standard than I do with Miller. He shouldn't be throwing people under the bus to the media, he shouldn't be pouting, and he should be making an effort to repair his relationship with Miller. If you disagree, that's fine.

And, yet again, you COMPLETELY ignore the injuries this team has suffered, and the other roster changes. Back to ignore for you. I should have known better.

I've said all I plan to say in this thread. It's clear the haters are going to keep hating Andre Miller no matter how illogical their "arguments". I don't understand the mentality, but have fun rooting for one of your own players to fail. Whatever floats your boat. I'd rather see the players do well as it helps my team win. But if the Blazers lose more games, and you can somehow, in your mind, pin those losses on Andre Miller, knock yourself out. Because it's clear no matter how well Miller plays, you will continue to disrespect him and hope he fails just to prop up your own fragile ego.

BNM

I'm not ignoring anything. You're offering stats, and I am offering stats. Anything else related to those stats is considered opinion, and some may even call them excuses.

I definitely do disagree. I put a lot of the blame on Miller.

This has gone about as far as it can go it looks like. Good discussion. This is why I come to RipCitytwo.com. :)

Illogical, but this is a free country. I guess you're unaware that it's a team sport.

I am assessing the team based on wins, and by proxy, the players on those teams. Since this thread turned into a PER argument for the PG poistion, I thought I would yet again that I like wins, and that I'm not a fantasy basketball player.

So you don't hold Roy to a higher standard? He's no different than, say, Dante Cunningham or Luke Babbitt in your eyes?

So by that standard, Brandon Roy is 0-2 in the playoffs. So is Aldridge actually.... should we get rid of them?

Oh please, you know why this team won less games last year and you're intentionally ignoring the facts to continue on with what I can only label as trolling.

How is pointing out a statistical fact "trolling"? I don't think much of Miller as the PG for the Blazers. Never have. If posting that makes me a troll, then there a ton of trolls on this board, including you, considering your act regardingNate McMillan. Didn't you actually wish for the team to fail last year, just so you could be consdiered "right" about Nate being a bad coach?

They have much shorter track record, and both are much better players than old man Miller.

Plus, I blame last year's playoff loss on Miller for being clowned by Grant Hill.

This shit is crazy! I don't need to throw out stats or PERs, there are probably only about 7 or 8 better PGs in the league. Point blank.

What a stupid post.

There's nothing new to add to this discussion imo. It's gone as far as it can go. If you feel you need to the last word, go ahead.

Good discussion.

Wow, I thought you actually knew the NBA. If Miller is a Top 10 PG, then PG is a position of one-dimensional players in the league.

Figures.

What opinion have I stated that isn't backed by a fact? I'm not saying my opinion is correct, but I have yet to make anything up about Miller.

I am assessing the team based on wins, and by proxy, the players on those teams.

Okay, so if we were comparing, say, Will Perdue to Charles Barkley, we could point out that Perdue's teams won more championships than Barkley's teams and, by proxy, Perdue won more than Barkley and therefore (since we like wins and we're not fantasy basketball players) Perdue was a better player than Barkley?

Also, the "I'm not a fantasy basketball player so forget about PER" is pretty amusing after all your criticisms of signing Wes Matthews based on his poor PER of last year.

But of course PER accurately measures guys like Matthews. Just not guys like BLANKY. Only WINS accurately measure BLANKY. Cuz all he does is WIN BASKETBALL GAMES! Do I have your position right? :)

That was mean. And all I was doing was showing understanding for your position. :(

You were making up my position and misrepresenting what I posted. Very unlike you, Minstrel.

Why do people get so upset with an opinion that deviates from the norm?

You're again missing the entire point of "role players". But whatever. If I change my position and say that Miller is the best thing ever for the Blazers, can this thread end without you throwing out strawmen?

I didn't make up anything. You blamed Miller for Roy's decline, we know his decline was injury-related, therefore you were blaming Miller for Roy's injuries. What did I misrepresent?

Why do people get so upset with an opinion that deviates from the norm?

Why do you get so upset when asked to defend your opinions? I'm not upset, I just think you're not being logical in your desire to cast Miller as a malignant force on the Blazers. In these discussions, I like to challenge what I perceive as a lack of logic. Does that upset you?

You're again missing the entire point of "role players".

BLANKY is the very definition of a role-player, but you're crediting him with "winning" 54 games. Please advise on what role-player issue I'm missing here.

Fine then, name the 10 PGs you would rather have the Blazers start instead of Miller. And feel free to not even take into account the size of there contract or how affordable Dre is when you look at his production.

Weakest reply to a legitimate point in about a week.

How many more wins do you think the team would have had, if Oden, Joel, Brandon, Nic, Travis and Rudy had stayed healthy?

Go Blazers

Totally false.

LOL

You win. I just don't have any interest fishing for red herrings.

Miller is teh bombay!

I'm waiting, this ought to be good.
