The trade deadline is coming and the Pacers made their move by acquiring the mercurial Bynum who impressed Pritchard, Bird and Vogel in a 3-hour meeting. If motivated and in a better locker room, he might contribute a bit off the bench as their bench is almost as bad as Portland's.

Rumors about Pau, Turner, Dudley, half of Cleveland and Philly's teams.....who makes the next move?

According to Jared Zwerling (@JaredZwerling):

Talking to league insiders, I'm hearing these names are being mentioned in trade talks within league circles (a lot of talk right now) ...A. Afflalo, T. Ariza, C. Singleton, G. Davis, R. Evans, P. Gasol, T. Gibson, C. Landry, G. Monroe, A. Rivers, T. Sefolosha and G. Vasquez.

Of course what they want back may be more than Portland has in movable assets but the discussions are starting to heat up.

Gotta think that HOU will make a move.
I really have no idea whether we'll make a move or not. "Luckily" all that chemistry evaporated and the team has fallen flat, which at least opens up the possibility that we'll make a move. The team definitely needs a major move or two, and the only way we'll be able to make a major change is through a trade - so it's either at the deadline or during the summer.

Greg Monroe, eh? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lcmb9p8

Very quiet on the Asik front since they took him off the block in late 2013. Monroe to me is a PF and doesn't play defense well enough to play alongside Aldridge although I like parts of his game.

Here in Portland most of us are to much "Worry Warts" to make a big splash.

I'd be getting Monroe to replace Robinson, as our back-up PF. He'd also replace Mo, as our main scoring threat off the bench.

He'd never resign here to be a backup for the next several years.

Well the Pacers took a chance so why can't we? How about Lamar Odem just for the rest of the season.

I'd really like Taj Gibson for the bench. He wouldn't help the scoring woes much but he is a great defensive big. The Bulls might be willing to do some sort of Robinson for Gibson swap if they are looking for a young guy back, not sure what they would want for him though

Taj is having is best season on offense this year. Career highs in PPG, eFG%, etc. he's scored 10+ in 26 games. He would certainly help with the bench scoring.

My guess is the Bulls want to package him with Boozer to score a 20+ PER kind of player, or just him for expiring contracts.

Rumor is Melo will opt out and the Bulls are high on his list. If NY wants to salvage something for him, Boozer and Taj might suffice.

that would leave the knicks with every overpaid PF in the league I think. A'mare, BArgs and Boozer all on the same team lol

I wish we could get Boozer but the Blazers would have to trade a starter and it would probably be Mathews+.

All those big contracts expire after next season, I believe. Boozer and Amare were the same FA class as LeBron.

The Bulls aren't tanking, but they're certainly not a real contender. If you offer them a game changing kind of player, or a situation that improves their cap for the summer, they might go for it.

They don't want TRob, because he's not as good as Taj, and not enough cheaper. Taj makes $8M next season, TRob and non expiring filler doesn't help in any way.

The Bulls would want CJ.

yea it was a longshot. If they get Melo and Rose comes back healthy they'll be really tough to beat.

Why does it matter if WE are? We don't have a say in it. I think some people forget that.

EXACTLY.

I'd want pretty much any of those guys. Ariza, though I hate his ass, would be great for us.

Mike Rice heard the Cavs are shopping Alonzo Gee and is pouring extra shots in anticipation of the possibility of his favorite named player coming to Portland.

Greg Monroe and Evan Turner topping the chatter charts right now.

 Nice. Any of those guys (except maybe Gee) would be cool, too. I like Monroe, actually.

Rice with extra shots in NY...good times. :D

I like Monroe as well but he is more of a PF where we are already quite good at that position. He doesn't play defense well enough to play opposite Aldridge so while I like him, he doesn't seem to be a great fit here. What do you think?

I think we're not as good as Monroe at backup PF. Monroe has a (as I recall; I may be misremembering) nice little offensive game, and neither TRob nor Joel have that. We need someone we can throw the ball into consistently off the bench, to let Mo run the team rather than his Moffense.

Just having a place where the offense can go to every play, a place to start the play, is a step up for us when 3 benchers are in.

Oh he would be great as a backup '4' but I doubt he wants anything to do with a few minutes behind Aldridge when he is playing 32 mpg now. I just don't see enough minutes for him and that could be an issue as he is used to starting for the most part. That is why I still like Hawes who could back up both positions and get 30-32 mpg doing so and would be a good fit next to both Fropez and LA.

Would love Turner coming off the bench at the 2/3 as well. Tired of always being so small in the backcourt when we go to the bench.
