Points
113
4.7 PPG
37 FG%
32 FG% from inside the three-point line
12.3 MPG

And these numbers are roughly the same as his rookie year numbers. Nate Wolters put up better numbers and he's on the verge of being waived.

Package him fast before he's unmovable.

were you not going to bring up his 43% from 3? :)

Well at least you are not bashing Batum. CJ doesn't even play enough to be horrible. There is just not enough of a sample size to make this kind of thread bashing the kid.

Last year (in his second year) Leonard did:

2.5 PPG
45 FG%
8.9 MPG
9.4 PER

People are determined to eat crow over and over again I suppose.

If we can move him for a stud 6th man, do it. It's not like he is super young, he is like 23-24. What you see is largely what you'll get, volume scoring. I think he is more of a Bayless than an Ellis.

I hate seeing that nerd face of his as well. The only time I get surprised is when he makes a shot. His fg % is even worse when you realize his shots are often uncontested.

On 2 attempts.

Meyers is pushing 7'2" and athletic. He was and is green and a few years away. CJ is a four-year player and polished.

CJ has only shown flashes twice since being drafted: vs Minnesota | vs. San Antonio

He's got no confidence in his shot lately, might be putting too much pressure on himself in the limited minutes. But as we saw with Leonard, it only takes one good game to get it going.

you can't say he's Polished when he literally played college ball against guys from Navy and Lafayette and American.

It's not like he played in the ACC or Pac-12 or something and played against NBA-caliber guys every couple of games. He has 60 games against NBA competition. He's 18 months into his career.

I agree.

CJ was doing so well before he got his broken hand. I think his shot is a little off, which takes a little time to get back. I have faith he will get his game back.

With who, Trob? Idk if i'd want to give up the pick too even if it will be like 29th.

We could get a third team involved maybe. Maybe wouldn't have to add a pick if we did something like:

POR: Wilson Chandler

NYK: JJ Hickson, Victor Claver

DEN: Andrea Bargnani (11.5M expiring), Thomas Robinson and CJ McCollum

Then we'd 2 open roster spots for Jerm and look at Ray Allen, Keith Bogans, Shannon Brown, Ronnie Brewer, Will Bynum, etc.

12 minutes is a lot. You should be able to show something in that amount of time. I think he's a lost cause. At least for this team.

I wanted to like this guy, but I have to agree with you, he's really Nolan Smith with a decent 3pt shot right now. But he can't create his own shot, and his mid range game is terrible, so all he can do is hit open 3s he happens to get within the offense. He doesn't have PG skills.

He went to school 4 years, and has used up the rookie excuse. Right now, he is not cutting it. He looks like a Euro-player to me.

I would appreciate that.... unfortunately we don't even get scoring.

*cough*Damian*cough*Lillard.....

I guess I have to start bumping all the threads of people who straight wanted to cut Crabbe outright before this season. And it is a lot.

I could be wrong but I don't think there's a snowballs chance in hell Allen comes to Portland. We could only offer the vets min, and theres got to be another playoff team that can offer him more. Even if not I still would bet he'd go to Dallas/GSW over POR.

Always the same people. No patience and no appreciation of the impact of injuries and limited game time in affecting a player's development.

I'm alright with moving him in the right package in breaking the right player in to come off the bench.

But I think the unfortunate thing is that he was a player that was coming on before his fracture injury. Just like year one in which he had a set back due to his foot. This injury has set him back. I think he is a guy that can play. And play at a high level. But this team needs help and it could use it now.

Exactly! there is another thread on here that is titled "Leonard Crow Pie". How many on this thread were bashing Meyers. Now they wasted another thread to bash the next guy up. Then i get an answer like "12 mins is long enough"? In what world is 12 mins long enough to know what you have here? CJ McCollum has play a total of 281 mins in 23 games so far this season. When he gets to a thousand (which he has not yet reached in two seasons combined) then you start looking at what changes he can make to his game. The fact is it is way too early to make a call on CJ. Olshey knows this as well as Stotts. At the end of next season come on back and tell me i am wrong if i am, but until then this thread is a complete waste of time.

Psst... "Leonard Crow Pie" is not bashing Leonard. Maybe you should read it before you assume it's a bash thread

That's really the problem though. After watching him in NBDL and summer league, and then watching him against NBA competition, I'm not sure he's athletic enough to be really good in the NBA. He doesn't have a quick first step or a fast release like Dame. He's not big enough to overpower people like Wes. He dominates against lower competition because his overall lack of speed isn't as noticeable. The best comparison is like a runningback who dominates in college, but loses his edge when he gets to the NFL where linebackers and defensive ends are just as quick and twice as strong.

CJ=project player, basically a rookie tweener who hasn't recovered his confidence. Playing NBA defense is taking a lot out of his energy level on offense. He's just not looking like a 9 man rotation player this season. Seems like this is his year to learn NBA level defense and it'll probably take all season for him to get comfortable. Injury bugs have plagued him since he got here. I questioned his readiness early on. Good thing is, if he doesn't pan out he'll become a fine journalist

I think he was pointing out the fact that the reason there needs to be the eating crow thread is because of people acting like this. I could be wrong but that was the way I took it.

DWright is another guy I always liked that suffered the wrath of fans.
