He suffers from the same problem Tyler Hansbrough had. He was a skilled guy down low, but just not big or long enough to finish at the NBA level. He has to work so hard for his shots.

Calab has a great back story and is a skilled big man, however he is very limited athletically & is very ground bound.
Virtually any frontcourt player he goes against in the NBA is going to have an advantage down low - simply because they can get get lift off of the ground. His shots where getting stuffed a lot - even by fringe NBA talent.

I was really disappointed with the pick at the time, especially since we'd just just picked a PF/C. Not the best pick for our needs, but what's more worrying is the Blazers brass said they would have picked him at 20.

Swanigan was out of position in offensive sets early in the season.
Stotts pulled him for this reason multiple times, and then Swanigan had dnpcd because Stotts couldn't trust him to be in the right position.
It's pretty simple if you watched the games and saw/heard Stotts' reaction early in the year.

We look so stupid for not taking Jordan Bell with that pick. He was sitting there on a platter. We had all the exposure in the world to that guy.
he was my first choice...I watched him play several times in Eugene

He can shoot the three and is a very good passer. He will find a place in the NBA, no question.
He hasn't shown anything consistently. Kyle Wiltjer could hit 3s but he's not in the league.

Yeah... I hated the pick too. Olshey has his hits and misses.

Caleb made an adjustment in college from one year to the next and had really good success. He's now putting up really good numbers in a league where he should be putting up really good numbers. I'll give him some time to see how he evolves. I'd rather have had Bell too, but that ship has sailed.....for now.

Swanigan is the worst PF on the roster. It’s pretty simple. Doesn’t mean he won’t improve, but he doesn’t deserve any minutes right now.

If he's the worst PF on our roster we're in very good shape in terms of options on this position. and I disagree about him being the worst, he didn't get a real chance to find his niche in the league, can't get rolling without getting any minutes. He can give us good hands around the basket, scoring inside and rebounding better than most of our options at PF and him not getting any minutes is Stotts fault, it isn't based on any actual logic

Lololol

He's slow. His feet are not agile at all. Watch that clip. The guy has no moves. He has a decent midrange jumper and he's a big body, but he's slow of feet and he doesn't have any actual post moves. He's not athletic. I honestly don't understand why we drafted him.

He plays like either a 15 year vet whose body has failed and he's just using his veteran smarts or like a fat kid whose weight has ruined his knees and he has to hustle and be aggressive but is not overly athletic.

It might just be an illusion, but Swanigan looked skinnier and more fluid in summer league than he does now. Maybe he felt he needed to add some weight back to handle the nba. Doubt he got lazy. If that’s actually what happened, he should lose the weight again. He’s not someone that can afford any extra weight.

There’s no way he’s the same size in these two photos.

I knew Jordan Bell had an NBA game and was ready....I'd never heard of Caleb but I'm a fan of the young man...work ethic...motor...skillset...he'll play below the rim but he's got a curve at the NBA level to get up to speed with..Bell is an athletic freak....Swanigan will get there in my view..dude can rebound like a madman. I watched two of his G league games and he didn't look fat to me....looked like a man amongst boys out there
