At least 15 people died after an SUV with dozens of passengers collided with a semitruck carrying gravel near the U.S.-Mexico border in California on Tuesday morning, according to officials with El Centro Regional Medical Center.

"We believe there was 27 passengers in this SUV that struck a semitruck full of gravel," emergency room managing director Judy Cruz said in a Facebook Live video.

At least 14 people died at the scene of the "major accident," Cruz said. Three people were flown to a hospital, she said. Seven patients were taken to El Centro, where one person died. Two patients were taken to Pioneer Hospital, she said.

"The patients are of course going through a little bit of a difficult time as you can imagine," said Dr. Adolphe Edward, chief executive officer at the hospital. "This is a major accident. We are taking care of them in the emergency room department."

Cruz said the hospital had called for air support from other agencies to transport three of the patients to other facilities.

How the hell could you fit 27 people in a Expedition? I don't even see how that's possible.

My parents had an Expedition in the late 90s that looked similar to the one that was hit. It has three seats in the back, two seats in the middle and two seats in the front. Maybe three in the middle. At most there shouldn't be more than 8 people in that thing. 27 people means they had people in the storage space in the back. In fact, I'm betting they took the seats out entirely.
 
I will say, this is the kind of thread that upsets me about people going to HCP's boss(es). No, I'm not an HCP "fan boy". But damn, he takes a lot more shit than he gives. He takes it from the entire forum. I mean, this is a thread about a serious and sad tragedy, and it takes less than 5 posts before the thread starts making cracks at HCP's expense. He's an easy target, in part because he takes it (jokes unnecessary here - we've heard them all).

I mean, I have low-filter and have no qualms about pushing boundaries on humor, even on rather serious and morbid incidents. It's clear that most folks on S2 are not so dissimilar. I suspect the coward(s) that have reported HCP to his boss(es) have contributed and poked fun at these morbid and/or racially-insensitive threads.

Maybe I should have felt more discomfort earlier, and I believe most people are just trying to have fun and be lighthearted, but I'm uncomfortable poking fun at HCP's expense while there is a coward here that has targeted him, his family, his livelihood. And clearly continues to target him. I know HCP has been a good sport about it, but I think we should resist the temptation for the time being.

(Okay, okay.... I'll get off my holier-than-though soap box because I know I've poked fun at him in the past week....)

I personally have never felt comfortable making HCP wife jokes and I have definitely not made racist jokes about him. I have called him AV boy and I made a crack about his education.

The guy annoys me but I have never complained or gone to his employer. Although I guess you could make the argument that I hold him responsible for their shitty camera angles.

With that said, you share your personal info at your own risk on here. If people ever tried to screw with me they probably ran into a brick wall :grin:

I too am uncomfortable with making jokes about the wife of HCP. I want to show respect to any lady.
