I'm not carrying those burlap fucking sacks. Some stores apparantly won't let you take shit just in a cart, has to leave in a bag?

who knows. lame shit again from the People's Republik.

Is it really that difficult to put a few bags in a closet at home and a few in the trunk of the car?

yes. I go to the grocery randomly on a whim. like if I drive by one. I don't always buy stuff either, I'm not going to walk into a store with a burlap sack and just browse around.

plus I use those plastic bags as quick garbage bags. have a dispenser for them. hopefully still have those shits at target.

Honestly it's not that big of a deal.

I've got two of those plastic bags stuck in trees right now. People just throw them on the ground and they blow everywhere. So annoying.

What are they going to charge, 5 cents for a paper bag?

I actually like paper bags. I really don't go grocery shopping personally all that much. The idea of it is kind of ludicrous though.

they actually do this in Europe I believe though. I did buy a burlap bag. :(

my main beef is I did save those plastic bags and used them in the kitchen as a quick garbage bag.

it just seems lame. the way it was was fine with me.

Sounds like an opportunity to me, buy a cheap printing press and sell ad space on the bags. You give the bags to the stores, they give them to their customers for free and your clients get great ad placement.

Grocery stores have been doing this with receipt tape for years.

I think they have to use like 40% recycled bags so you know they gonna suck.

Most things, when looked at by themselves, "aren't that big of deal". The California government continues to think they know what is best for everybody, and thinks they are being so "progressive" as they run the state into financial ruin.

I use the reusable bags, not because I'm tryin to be green...because I can put loads of shit in each bag and only make one trip from the car to the kitchen.

Yes. Our state is run by selfish morons.

Pull tabs on beer and pop cans.

The old version of the plastic six pack rings.

Bottle return deposits.

I tend to look at the plastic bag ban on par with those types of things instead of big brother trying to control you.

I don't live in California so this isn't an issue for me.

Be thankful.

California is great for the weather but it really is depressing whenever you see the fuck faces that are running the city and state government. The state is totally corrupt from the utilities, to the education, to the local city council all the way to the senate and governor's office. I'll be suprised if California still exists in 25 years.

I lived in Woodland Hills for a year. Right next door to Issac the Bartender from the Love Boat. I once got lost and ended up in Canoga Park, right as I was saying to my girlfriend at the time, "Hey, I bet this is the Canoga Park from that Frank Zappa song..." a car full of mexicans pulled up along side of my car and wanted to know if wanted to buy some crack. A second later a different car pulled up behind them and shot their back window out.

I made sure never to get lost again.

Valley sucks.

I'm pretty sure that's everywhere, not just Cali.

You don't believe in externalities? That there are things that incur costs to others that aren't priced into the cost to the consumer, so the market or "invisible hand" has no incentive to fix it, despite it affecting more people than those involved in the actual transaction?

I can at least see a coherent position for Liberterians or fiscal conservatives when it comes to government imposing on things that are entirely between the people involved in the action, even if I don't always agree with them. I think they're intentionally or unintentionally missing the point when it involves actions that impact others.
